Cricket – Bhuvneshwar Kumar Reaches Historic 350 T20 Wickets Milestone
Cricket- T20 b oyal Challengers Bengaluru’s seasoned fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar etched his name into the record books on Thursday by becoming the first Indian pacer to claim 350 wickets in T20 cricket. The milestone came during an Indian Premier League clash against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, further highlighting his enduring impact in the shortest format of the game.

Landmark achievement in T20 cricket
Representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered a disciplined spell despite challenging conditions. Defending a modest total of 156, he returned figures of 3 for 28 in four overs, standing out even as runs flowed from the opposite end. With this performance, he became only the second Indian bowler overall to surpass the 350-wicket mark in T20s.
Across 325 appearances in the format, Bhuvneshwar now has 352 wickets to his name, maintaining an average of 24.51. His record includes five four-wicket hauls and an equal number of five-wicket performances, with his best figures standing at 5 for 4. Among Indian bowlers, only Yuzvendra Chahal has taken more T20 wickets.
Strong form in the ongoing IPL season
The current IPL season has seen Bhuvneshwar in impressive rhythm. His ability to swing the ball and maintain control has troubled several batting line-ups. In nine matches so far, he has picked up 17 wickets at an average of 15.52, coupled with an economy rate of 7.54. His best performance this season is 3 for 5, and he currently leads the wicket-taking charts.
In IPL history, Bhuvneshwar’s consistency is equally notable. Over 199 matches, he has taken 215 wickets, making him one of the most successful bowlers in the tournament. His best IPL figures remain 5 for 19, placing him second on the all-time list behind Chahal.
RCB’s batting effort falls short
After being put in to bat by Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru made a brisk start. Virat Kohli looked in fluent touch, scoring 28 off just 13 deliveries, including five boundaries. He took on Kagiso Rabada early, setting the tone with aggressive stroke play.
However, RCB struggled to maintain momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. Contributions from Devdutt Padikkal, who top-scored with 40 runs off 24 balls, helped steady the innings briefly. Yet, disciplined bowling from Gujarat, particularly Arshad Khan (3/22), Rashid Khan (2/19), and Jason Holder (2/29), restricted RCB to 155 in 19.2 overs.
Gujarat Titans complete steady chase
Chasing 156, Gujarat Titans began confidently. Captain Shubman Gill played an attacking innings of 43 from 18 balls, while Jos Buttler added 39 off 19 deliveries. Their quick scoring pushed Gujarat into a strong position early in the chase.
However, a middle-order collapse saw the team slip from 92 for 2 to 111 for 5, bringing the contest back into balance. At this stage, Rahul Tewatia held his composure, remaining unbeaten on 27 off 17 balls. His steady approach ensured Gujarat Titans crossed the finish line without further setbacks.
Points table implications
With this victory, Gujarat Titans secured their fifth win in nine matches, moving into the middle of the standings. Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru remain in second place despite registering their third loss of the season.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s personal milestone stood out as the highlight of the match, underlining his longevity and effectiveness in T20 cricket. His continued performance remains a key factor for RCB as the tournament progresses.
