Women safety tamil nadu force launch

Official Launch Scheduled in Chennai

The launch event will be held at 5 p.m. at the Jawaharlal Nehru Rajarathinam Sports Stadium. The formation of the Singappenn Special Task Force was among the earliest governance measures announced by the Chief Minister after taking office, highlighting the administration’s focus on public safety and welfare.

Officials stated that the dedicated unit has been designed to provide a more focused approach toward preventing crimes against women and children while ensuring quicker response mechanisms during emergencies. The initiative is also expected to strengthen coordination among various law enforcement agencies operating across the state.

Senior Officer Appointed to Lead the Unit

To oversee the functioning of the newly established force, senior IPS officer K. Bhavaneeswari has been appointed as its first Inspector General. The leadership appointment is expected to play a key role in shaping the operational framework and long-term objectives of the task force.

The unit has been staffed with more than 30 personnel, including officers from different ranks. The team consists of a Superintendent of Police, two Deputy Superintendents of Police, four Inspectors, and several supporting officers and staff members who will be responsible for carrying out field and administrative duties.

Distinctive Uniform Introduced

As part of creating a recognizable identity, the government has introduced a dedicated uniform for members of the force. Women police personnel and women Sub-Inspectors assigned to the task force will wear blue shirts combined with khaki trousers.

In addition, black caps and black shoes have been included as part of the official attire. Authorities believe the distinctive uniform will help members of the public easily identify task force personnel while they perform their responsibilities in different parts of the state.

Launch Delayed Before Final Approval

The task force was initially expected to be launched on May 29. Preparations had been completed for the Chief Minister to formally unveil the initiative on that date. However, the programme was postponed shortly before the scheduled event due to administrative considerations.

With all arrangements now finalized, the inauguration is set to proceed this week, allowing the force to begin its operational activities immediately after the launch ceremony.

Statewide Deployment Planned

Following the formal inauguration in Chennai, members of the Singappenn Special Task Force will be deployed throughout Tamil Nadu. Officials confirmed that personnel will begin functioning across all districts, ensuring broader coverage and accessibility for the public.

The force has been created with the objective of delivering a stronger and more organized response to offences involving women and children. Apart from handling complaints and responding rapidly to urgent situations, the unit will also focus on preventive measures designed to reduce the occurrence of such crimes.

Focus on Prevention and Victim Support

Authorities said the responsibilities of the task force will extend beyond emergency intervention. The unit is expected to undertake surveillance activities, provide assistance to victims, and conduct awareness programmes aimed at promoting public safety.

Through a combination of prevention, outreach, and enforcement, the government hopes the Singappenn Special Task Force will contribute to a safer environment for women and children across Tamil Nadu while strengthening confidence in law enforcement services.
