White House: Why PM Modi’s Silence on Repeated Conversations with Donald Trump is Raising Questions
White House: Why PM Modi Remains Silent on His Frequent Talks with President Trump
Lack of Acknowledgement from the Prime Minister
The Congress party has raised a sharp question: Why has Prime Minister Narendra Modi never acknowledged his frequent conversations with U.S. President Donald Trump?
This concern surfaced after the White House officially confirmed that the two leaders communicate “pretty frequently.”

Congress General Secretary for Communications, Jairam Ramesh, criticised the Prime Minister, pointing to what he called a lack of transparency in India’s diplomatic exchanges with the United States.
Issue of Transparency in Indo–US Relations
Ramesh highlighted that Indians were not informed by their own government about the suspension of Operation Sindoor. Instead, the news reached the public only after an announcement made by the U.S. Secretary of State at 5:37 p.m. on May 10.
He further stated that the Indian public came to know about Modi–Trump talks only through a statement made by White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, who revealed that the two leaders had been discussing trade and other key matters.
Congress Questions PM Modi’s Silence
In a post on X, Ramesh remarked:
“Of course, the Prime Minister and the U.S. President should talk. But why does PM Modi never mention these conversations? What is he trying to hide? What is he afraid of?”
White House Highlights Positive Relations
The remarks from Congress came soon after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that President Trump felt “very positive and strongly” about the future of India–US relations.
She added that Trump had recently spoken to Prime Minister Modi during the Diwali celebration at the Oval Office, which was attended by several senior Indian-American officials.
Leavitt also confirmed that the U.S. trade team was in “very serious discussions” with India and that President Trump holds “great respect” for PM Modi.
