WestBengal – Shah Promises Policy Changes and Stronger Law Enforcement

WestBengal –  Union Home Minister Amit Shah intensified his party’s campaign in West Bengal on Sunday, outlining a series of promises if the Bharatiya Janata Party secures power in the state. Speaking at public gatherings in Tehatta and Ranaghat in Nadia district, Shah said his party would introduce a Uniform Civil Code and take firm action against what he described as entrenched criminal networks.

Focus on Governance and Legal Reforms

Addressing supporters, Shah emphasized that a BJP-led government would prioritize legal and administrative changes. He said the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code would be among the key steps aimed at ensuring uniformity in personal laws across communities. Alongside this, he pledged to dismantle systems that he alleged have enabled unlawful activities and political patronage.

According to Shah, these measures would be part of a broader effort to restore governance standards and improve public confidence in institutions.

Allegations on Security and Past Policies

During his speech, Shah criticized previous governments, including those led by the Congress and the Trinamool Congress under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He alleged that earlier administrations had taken a lenient approach toward security threats.

Referring to national security issues, Shah contrasted past responses with actions taken in recent years at the national level. He said stronger measures had been adopted to address such threats, positioning this shift as a change in policy direction.

Concerns Over Infiltration and Border Issues

Another major theme of Shah’s address was the issue of alleged illegal migration. He claimed that infiltration posed a serious concern for national security and accused the state government of failing to address the issue effectively.

Shah stated that if his party forms the government, authorities would take steps to identify and act against individuals residing in the state without legal authorization. He framed this as part of a broader commitment to safeguarding the state’s borders and internal security.

Law and Order Under Scrutiny

The home minister also raised concerns about law and order in West Bengal. He referred to incidents of violence and alleged political intimidation in various parts of the state. Mentioning specific cases, including events in Sandeshkhali and incidents at educational institutions, Shah argued that these reflected a decline in public safety.

He criticized the state administration for what he described as inadequate action against those responsible for such incidents. According to him, restoring law and order would be a top priority under a different government.

Political Exchange Over Public Safety Remarks

Shah also responded to recent remarks attributed to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding safety concerns, particularly for women. He argued that a change in leadership would lead to improved conditions, asserting that citizens should feel secure at all times.

In his speech, Shah used strong language while addressing the issue of criminal activity, stating that strict measures would be taken against offenders. He maintained that such actions would be necessary to ensure a safer environment for residents.

Election Appeal and Future Plans

Urging voters to participate without fear, Shah said adequate security arrangements had been made for the electoral process. He encouraged people to exercise their right to vote, emphasizing that their participation would shape the state’s future direction.

Additionally, he announced that a specialized task force would be established to address issues such as cattle smuggling, which he described as a persistent concern in certain regions.

As campaigning continues, Shah’s remarks reflect the BJP’s strategy of focusing on governance, security, and administrative reform while directly challenging the current state leadership.
