Welfare – Modi Highlights Twelve Years of Governance Focused on Inclusive Growth
Welfare – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday reflected on the achievements of his government over the past twelve years, stating that India has experienced substantial progress during this period while maintaining a strong focus on improving the lives of economically weaker and disadvantaged sections of society.

According to the Prime Minister, the guiding principle behind the government’s approach has been to ensure that the benefits of development reach people who had remained outside the mainstream for many years. He said the administration’s efforts have been inspired by the idea of uplifting the last person in the social and economic order, with policies designed to create equal opportunities and improve living standards.
Welfare Programmes at the Centre of Policy
Highlighting several flagship schemes introduced during the last decade, Modi pointed to initiatives such as Jan Dhan financial inclusion accounts, Direct Benefit Transfer systems, Swachh Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Ayushman Bharat. He noted that these programmes were launched with the objective of providing greater dignity, better access to services, and improved quality of life for millions of citizens.
The Prime Minister said these measures have helped expand access to banking, housing, healthcare, sanitation, and drinking water across different parts of the country. He added that the government’s emphasis has remained on creating long-term improvements rather than offering temporary solutions.
Technology Strengthening Public Service Delivery
In a message shared through his official social media account, Modi underlined the growing role of technology in governance. He said digital systems have made it possible to transfer benefits directly to beneficiaries while improving transparency in the delivery process.
According to him, the use of digital platforms and Direct Benefit Transfers has reduced inefficiencies and minimized losses in welfare distribution. He also stated that these technological interventions have increased public confidence in government programmes by ensuring that assistance reaches intended recipients without unnecessary delays.
The Prime Minister described this approach as an important step in empowering citizens and supporting the broader vision of building a developed India in the coming years.
BJP and NDA Mark Twelve Years in Office
The remarks came a day after the National Democratic Alliance government completed twelve years at the Centre. To mark the occasion, leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party and its alliance partners highlighted what they described as the government’s continued commitment to social welfare and economic inclusion.
Using the theme “12 Years of Garib Kalyan,” party leaders and supporters shared messages emphasizing the administration’s focus on programmes aimed at supporting low-income households and vulnerable communities.
Government Publication Highlights Poverty Reduction Efforts
A publication released by the government stated that welfare measures for economically weaker sections have remained a key priority throughout the past twelve years. The document argued that public policies have been designed to improve living conditions and expand opportunities for those in need.
The publication also referred to the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, describing it as an important support mechanism for a large number of beneficiaries. It said several welfare schemes introduced since 2014 have contributed to significant changes in rural areas and among underprivileged sections of society.
Focus on Inclusion and Empowerment
The report further cited international assessments suggesting a decline in poverty levels in India over recent years. It attributed this trend to policy decisions that placed social welfare and empowerment at the centre of governance. According to the publication, the objective has been to create a development model that combines economic growth with broader social inclusion, ensuring that benefits reach all sections of society.
