Weather Update for the Northeast

Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are among the Northeast states where the IMD has issued warnings of severe rain and thunderstorms. In a similar vein, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and coastal Karnataka are all under a yellow warning, with heavy rain predicted for November 4.

Currently, there is a western disturbance over North India that is helping the weather by delivering rain to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Although there was some light rain in Uttar Pradesh, sunny skies are predicted for November 6–8; however, chilly mountain winds are probably to blame for the dropping temperatures.

Marathwada and Gujarat Yellow Alert Issued

A yellow signal for thunderstorms and lightning has also been issued for Gujarat and Marathwada, with rain expected over the next five to seven days. With thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds predicted for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, fishermen have been warned not to go out to sea.

UN Environment Program Alert

The world is not on pace to fulfill the Paris Agreement’s climate objective of keeping global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, according to a UN Environment Programme (UNEP) assessment. Global temperatures might climb by 2.3 to 2.5 degrees Celsius this century, just somewhat less than last year’s prediction of 2.6 to 2.8 degrees Celsius, even if all present national pledges are completely implemented. The research highlights the pressing need for more robust global climate action by warning that the 1.5 Degree Celsius barrier may be surpassed in the next ten years.
