Weather – Light Rain and Thunderstorms Expected in Delhi This Week
Weather – The national capital is likely to experience another spell of rain over the coming days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting light showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning activity.

Rainfall Forecast for the Coming Days
As per the latest IMD outlook, Delhi may witness generally cloudy skies on March 26, 27, and 29. During this period, there is a possibility of very light rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning, and occasional gusty winds. These changing weather conditions are expected to keep temperatures relatively stable.
Temperature Trends Across the City
On Wednesday, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 16.4 degrees Celsius, which was slightly below the seasonal average by 0.9 degrees. The maximum temperature climbed to around 33.5 degrees Celsius under partly cloudy skies.
Different parts of the city showed slight variations in temperature readings. The Ridge area reported the highest maximum temperature at 34 degrees Celsius. Lodi Road followed closely with 33.8 degrees, while Ayanagar and Safdarjung recorded 33.7 and 33.5 degrees Celsius, respectively. Palam remained relatively cooler, registering a maximum temperature of 31.9 degrees Celsius.
Variation in Minimum Temperatures
Minimum temperatures also differed slightly across monitoring stations. Palam recorded 16.8 degrees Celsius, marginally above normal levels, while Lodi Road registered 15.7 degrees Celsius, also slightly higher than usual.
In contrast, the Ridge station observed a minimum of 16.8 degrees Celsius, which was notably below normal by 2.3 degrees. Ayanagar recorded 15.7 degrees Celsius, showing a deviation of 2.1 degrees below the seasonal average.
Recent Rainfall Impact
Earlier this week, Delhi experienced light to moderate rainfall during the early hours of Monday. This followed a period of relatively heavy rainfall over the past week, which had a noticeable impact on weather conditions.
The recent showers brought relief from the rising heat, as temperatures that had previously approached 38 to 39 degrees Celsius dropped significantly. This shift has contributed to a more comfortable environment across the city.
Air Quality Status and Outlook
Delhi’s air quality has remained within the ‘moderate’ category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 183. According to the Air Quality Early Warning System, this trend is expected to continue from Thursday through March 28.
As per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) classification, AQI levels between 0 and 50 are considered good, 51 to 100 satisfactory, and 101 to 200 moderate. Levels above 200 indicate progressively worsening air quality categories.
Continued Moderate Air Quality Expected
Experts suggest that the combination of light rainfall and wind activity could help maintain the air quality within the moderate range in the coming days. The recent rain has already contributed to reducing pollution levels and improving overall atmospheric conditions.
With intermittent showers and stable temperatures expected, Delhi residents may continue to experience relatively pleasant weather compared to the intense heat recorded earlier this month.
