Security – The Chhattisgarh Police Headquarters has assigned IPS officer Jayant Vaishnav the additional responsibility of overseeing the security of the Chief Minister after the transfer of Harish Rathore to Korea district. The decision has been made to ensure there is no disruption in the state’s high-level security arrangements.
Police Headquarters Issues Official Appointment Order
An official order released on July 16 by Director General of Police (DGP) Arun Dev Gautam confirmed that Jayant Vaishnav, who is currently serving as Superintendent of Police (Security) in the Special Branch at the Police Headquarters in Raipur, will also handle the responsibilities of Superintendent of Police for the Chief Minister’s security. The assignment has been made on a temporary basis and will remain effective until further instructions are issued.
Transfer of Harish Rathore Led to the New Posting
The appointment comes after IPS officer Harish Rathore, who was previously responsible for the Chief Minister’s security, was transferred by the Chhattisgarh government’s Home (Police) Department. As per the transfer order issued on July 10, Rathore has been posted as the Superintendent of Police for Korea district. His reassignment created a vacancy in the Chief Minister’s security wing, making it necessary for the Police Headquarters to designate a new officer.
Temporary Responsibility Assigned to Jayant Vaishnav
The order states that Jayant Vaishnav has been entrusted with supervising the Chief Minister’s security arrangements until a further decision is taken by the department. Officials said the move is intended to maintain continuity in one of the state’s most important security responsibilities while administrative changes are being implemented.
Senior Officials Informed About the Decision
The notification signed by DGP Arun Dev Gautam has been circulated to key government and police authorities. Copies of the order have been forwarded to the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, the Principal Secretary of the Home Department, senior officers at the Police Headquarters, the Raipur Police Commissioner, all Range Inspectors General of Police, Superintendents of Police across the state, and other concerned departments for necessary action and information.
Vaishnav Brings Experience in Security Management
Before receiving the additional assignment, Jayant Vaishnav was serving in the Special Branch of the Police Headquarters in Raipur, where his responsibilities included handling matters related to security. His experience in this role is expected to support the smooth management of the Chief Minister’s security arrangements during the transition period.
The position of Superintendent of Police for the Chief Minister’s security is considered one of the most sensitive assignments within the state police setup because it involves coordinating multiple security agencies and ensuring the safety of the state’s highest elected executive.
