Security – The Delhi Legislative Assembly has once again come under scrutiny after a series of threatening emails raised serious security concerns. Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta has formally approached senior official Satish Golcha, urging swift action to address the alarming situation.

Repeated Threat Emails Raise Alarm

According to the Speaker, the Assembly has received multiple threatening emails over the past few weeks. These messages were sent not only to the official Assembly email address but also directly to his personal account. The contents of these emails reportedly included warnings about planting explosives and carrying out blasts within a specific timeframe.

On Monday, another such email was received, intensifying concerns. The repeated nature of these threats has created unease among officials and staff, prompting calls for urgent intervention.

Fresh Email Sparks Immediate Concern

Gupta highlighted that the most recent email arrived at approximately 11:12 am and contained disturbing claims regarding the use of explosives within the Assembly premises. Although earlier communications had already been forwarded for investigation, the continued flow of such messages suggests that the issue remains unresolved.

Officials fear that these repeated threats could disrupt normal functioning and create an atmosphere of anxiety within the institution. Staff members, in particular, have reportedly expressed concern over their safety while working inside the Assembly complex.

Call for Stronger Investigation and Security

In his communication, the Speaker stressed the importance of identifying the source of these emails without delay. He urged authorities to take strict action against those responsible and to ensure that such incidents do not recur.

Gupta also emphasized the need to enhance security measures both inside and around the Assembly premises. He noted that any threat to a legislative body is not just a matter of safety but also an issue that impacts democratic functioning.

Assembly Security Under Review

The concerns come shortly after a reported security lapse that disrupted routine operations within the Assembly. The incident reportedly affected official movement, including that of the Speaker’s vehicle, raising questions about existing safety protocols.

Following this, Gupta conducted a review of current security arrangements and made it clear that there should be no compromise when it comes to safeguarding the Assembly. He called for the implementation of stronger and more reliable systems to prevent any future breaches.

Democratic Institution Faces Growing Challenges

Highlighting the broader implications, Gupta pointed out that the Legislative Assembly is a cornerstone of democratic governance. Any threat directed at such an institution is a matter of serious concern and cannot be taken lightly.

He reiterated that ensuring the safety of elected representatives, staff, and visitors is essential for maintaining public trust. The ongoing threats, he warned, could undermine confidence in institutional security if not addressed promptly and effectively.

Authorities Expected to Respond Swiftly

With the matter now formally raised, attention has turned to investigative agencies and security authorities. There is growing expectation that a thorough probe will be conducted to trace the origin of the emails and prevent further incidents.

Officials are also likely to reassess digital security measures, given that the threats were delivered electronically. Strengthening surveillance and monitoring systems could play a key role in identifying potential risks early.

As the situation develops, the focus remains on restoring a sense of safety within the Assembly while ensuring that democratic processes continue without disruption.
