Security – CISF Returns Valuables Worth Over ₹22 Lakh, Reunites Missing Children in Delhi Metro
Security – The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has reported significant achievements in safeguarding passengers and supporting commuters across the Delhi Metro network during the first half of the year. According to official data released by the CISF unit deployed with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the force recovered lost belongings valued at more than ₹22.77 lakh, reunited dozens of missing children with their families, and prevented several security violations involving prohibited weapons.

Strong Vigilance Across Metro Network
Figures shared on Friday showed that CISF personnel maintained strict surveillance and security checks throughout the metro system. During routine screening operations conducted at metro stations, security teams detected five separate attempts to carry prohibited weapons into the transit network.
Among the items seized were four firearms and one live round of ammunition. Officials said these recoveries helped prevent potentially dangerous objects from entering one of the country’s busiest public transportation systems, reinforcing passenger safety and security standards.
Valuable Lost Items Successfully Returned
Apart from security duties, CISF personnel also played a key role in assisting passengers through extensive lost-and-found operations. Over the six-month period, the force recovered valuables collectively worth more than ₹22.77 lakh and ensured that the items were returned to their rightful owners.
The recovered property included cash amounting to ₹15.77 lakh and a bank cheque valued at ₹7 lakh. Security officials also traced and returned several foreign currencies, including British pounds, Nepalese rupees, Singapore dollars and Indonesian rupiah that had been misplaced by commuters while travelling through the metro network.
Electronics and Jewellery Among Recovered Belongings
The list of returned items extended beyond cash and financial instruments. CISF teams recovered a wide range of personal belongings frequently lost by passengers during daily travel.
Among the items handed back to owners were gold jewellery, silver ornaments, 32 laptop computers, 68 mobile phones and nine wristwatches. Officials noted that prompt reporting by passengers and coordinated efforts by metro security personnel contributed significantly to the successful return of these valuables.
Humanitarian Efforts Highlighted
The report also underscored the humanitarian responsibilities carried out by CISF personnel inside metro premises. During the six-month period, security teams successfully reunited 69 missing children with their families.
Officials stated that trained personnel remained alert to situations involving vulnerable individuals and worked closely with concerned authorities and family members to ensure children were safely returned. Such interventions form an important part of the force’s public service role beyond routine security operations.
Commitment to Safe Public Transport
The latest figures reflect the broad responsibilities handled by CISF personnel across the Delhi Metro system, ranging from security enforcement and passenger assistance to emergency response and humanitarian support.
With millions of commuters relying on the metro every day, officials said continued vigilance, efficient screening procedures and public cooperation remain essential for maintaining a safe and secure travel environment throughout the national capital’s mass transit network.
