Results – JEE Main 2026 Sees 26 Candidates Achieve Perfect Scores
Results – The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that 26 candidates secured a flawless 100 percentile in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026, conducted across two sessions earlier this year. Notably, all top scorers are male, reflecting a pattern similar to previous years, though the total number has slightly increased from 24 perfect scorers in 2025.

Distribution of Top Scorers Across States
Among those who achieved the highest possible score, candidates from multiple regions have made their mark. Three students from the Delhi–National Capital Territory, including Shreya Mishra, Aditya Gupta, and Atharva Panjabi, are part of the elite group. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have each contributed five candidates to the list, indicating strong representation from southern states.
Rajasthan follows with four top performers, while Haryana and Maharashtra have two candidates each. Additionally, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Gujarat, Odisha, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh have one candidate each among the perfect scorers. This geographical spread highlights the nationwide competitiveness of the examination.
Overall Participation and Exam Sessions
The JEE Main 2026 examination witnessed significant participation, with over 1.5 million candidates appearing for the BE and BTech papers. The exam was conducted in two phases — the first session took place between January 21 and January 28, while the second session was held from April 2 to April 8.
Out of the total 15,38,468 candidates, more than 5.3 lakh were women, demonstrating increasing female participation in engineering entrance exams. The two-session format continues to provide students with an additional opportunity to improve their performance.
Female Candidates Deliver Strong Performance
Although no female candidate achieved a perfect 100 percentile, several students delivered exceptional results. Mallavarapu Aasna from Telangana emerged as the top-performing female candidate with an impressive percentile of 99.9982287.
She was closely followed by Ashi Grewal from Haryana, who scored 99.9969766 percentile, and Saumyaa Gupta from Rajasthan with 99.9965185 percentile. These results underline the growing presence of female candidates among the top ranks, even if they narrowly missed the perfect score bracket.
Category Breakdown of Top Performers
A closer look at the category distribution reveals that most of the 100 percentile scorers belong to the general category. Out of the 26 candidates, 24 are from the general category, while one candidate belongs to the economically weaker section (EWS) and another falls under the other backward classes (OBC) non-creamy layer category.
This distribution reflects broader trends seen in competitive exams, where access to resources and preparation support often plays a significant role in outcomes.
Action Against Unfair Practices
The NTA also reported strict action against candidates found violating examination rules. Scores of 111 candidates were withheld after they were identified to have engaged in unfair practices across both sessions.
The agency has reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process through strict monitoring and enforcement measures. This includes the use of advanced technology and surveillance systems during exams.
Consistency in Competitive Standards
The marginal increase in the number of perfect scorers compared to last year suggests consistency in the exam’s difficulty level and evaluation standards. With lakhs of aspirants competing for limited seats in premier engineering institutions, even minor differences in scores can significantly impact rankings.
The results once again highlight the intense competition and the importance of sustained preparation for aspirants aiming to secure top ranks in JEE Main.
