Politics – Telangana Police Detain BRS Leader Over Alleged Assault Case
Politics – Telangana police have taken Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Manne Krishank into custody following allegations that he forcibly entered the residence of a Congress functionary and assaulted him over a social media disagreement. The arrest comes after a formal complaint triggered legal action, intensifying tensions between political groups in the state.

Complaint Leads to Police Action
According to officials, the case was registered after Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Social Media Coordinator Gundamalla Rajendra Kumar accused Krishank of trespassing into his home and physically attacking him. Based on the complaint, police filed a First Information Report and initiated an investigation, which led to Krishank’s arrest on Thursday.
Authorities have stated that the matter is being examined under relevant legal provisions, and further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing inquiry. The incident has drawn attention within political circles, with both parties closely monitoring developments.
Earlier Injury During Protest
The arrest follows an earlier incident involving Krishank in March, when he reportedly suffered significant leg injuries during a protest organized against the Congress-led government. The demonstration took place at Picket, where participants staged a dharna and burned an effigy as part of their protest.
Krishank was said to have been injured while participating in the demonstration activities. He later received treatment at his residence, where he remained under care for some time following the incident.
Visit by K. T. Rama Rao and Party Leaders
During his recovery period, BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao visited Krishank at his residence to check on his condition. He interacted with family members and expressed concern over the injuries sustained during the protest. The visit was described as a gesture of support from the party leadership.
KTR also acknowledged Krishank’s involvement in public campaigns, particularly highlighting the ‘One Lakh Signatures Collection’ initiative. This campaign aimed to demand the integration of the Cantonment area into the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), an issue that has been under discussion in local governance debates.
Party Leaders Express Support
Several senior leaders accompanied KTR during the visit, including former minister Malla Reddy and former Deputy Speaker Padma Rao Goud. Their presence underscored internal solidarity within the party during Krishank’s recovery phase.
During the interaction, KTR advised Krishank to prioritize his health and allow adequate time for recovery before resuming active political engagements. Party members reportedly appreciated his contributions to organizational and public outreach efforts.
Political Tensions Continue
The recent arrest has added another layer to the ongoing friction between the BRS and Congress in Telangana. Disputes over political messaging, public campaigns, and social media exchanges have increasingly become points of contention between party workers.
While police maintain that the action is based solely on the complaint and evidence presented, political observers note that such incidents often reflect broader rivalries at the grassroots level. Both parties have yet to issue detailed official statements regarding the latest development.
As the investigation progresses, authorities are expected to gather statements and evidence to establish the sequence of events. The outcome may have implications not only for those directly involved but also for the wider political environment in the state
