Politics –  A fresh political controversy has emerged in Tamil Nadu after allegations surfaced regarding the sexual assault of a minor boy in Chennai’s Kodambakkam area. The incident, which reportedly involved three accused persons including a police officer, triggered a strong reaction from AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday.

According to the details shared by the opposition leader, the victim allegedly faced severe abuse after being forced to consume alcohol. The boy later managed to escape from the accused and approached the Ashok Nagar police station to file a complaint. The case has since intensified the political debate over law and order in the state.

Reacting publicly to the reports, Palaniswami expressed concern over the safety of children under the present administration led by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. He noted that the victim showed courage by resisting the attackers and reaching the police station independently to seek help.

The AIADMK leader further criticised the state government’s recent law and order review efforts. Referring to a video released by the administration about an official review meeting, he claimed such exercises appeared more symbolic than effective.

He questioned whether the government was taking genuine steps to control rising criminal incidents or merely conducting public relations activities. According to Palaniswami, stronger preventive measures and immediate administrative accountability are necessary to restore public trust.
