OdishaPolitics – Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament Dharmendra Pradhan met Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Legislative Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, and other key leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party during a high-level meeting in Bhubaneswar. The discussions took place just days after Pradhan stepped down from his position as Union Education Minister and were centered on development-related issues affecting the state.

Focus on Odisha’s Development Agenda

According to information shared by Dharmendra Pradhan on the social media platform X, the meeting brought together the Chief Minister, the Assembly Speaker, the party’s state in-charge, and BJP Members of Parliament. The leaders reviewed several important matters connected with Odisha’s ongoing development initiatives and future priorities.

Pradhan stated that the interaction covered a broad range of topics linked to the state’s progress. While specific decisions were not disclosed, the meeting reflected the party leadership’s continued emphasis on coordination over developmental planning and governance.

First Visit to Odisha After Resignation

The meeting followed Pradhan’s return to Odisha on Tuesday, marking his first visit to the state after resigning from the Union Cabinet. His arrival at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar was welcomed by BJP leaders, party workers, and several ministers from the state government.

The visit attracted attention as it came shortly after his resignation from the Ministry of Education, a move that followed nationwide concerns over the NEET-UG 2026 examination and reported irregularities linked to the paper leak controversy.

Resignation Linked to Examination Controversy

Dharmendra Pradhan resigned from the Union Cabinet on July 25, stating that he was accepting moral responsibility for the issues surrounding the conduct of the NEET-UG 2026 examination. The controversy had triggered widespread criticism and protests from students and opposition parties, leading to increased scrutiny of the examination process.

Although he stepped down from the ministerial post, Pradhan has continued to remain active in party affairs and public engagements, with his latest meeting in Odisha indicating his continued involvement in matters concerning the state.

Chief Minister Praises Pradhan’s Contribution

Following the resignation, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi publicly acknowledged Pradhan’s work during his tenure as Union Education Minister. In a message shared on X, the Chief Minister highlighted the reforms introduced under Pradhan’s leadership, particularly the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).

Majhi described the policy as a landmark initiative that created a long-term framework aimed at strengthening the country’s education system and benefiting future generations of students.

The Chief Minister also referred to Pradhan’s decision to resign as an example of accountability and commitment to public life. He said the move reflected the senior BJP leader’s adherence to moral principles and dedication to public service.
