MissingChildren – Delhi Police Reunite Three Missing Minors With Families Safely

MissingChildren – Three minors who had gone missing from different parts of Delhi after leaving their homes voluntarily were successfully traced and reunited with their families by the Delhi Police Crime Branch, officials confirmed on Saturday. The operations were carried out by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), which tracked the children across multiple locations, including areas in Delhi and Surat, Gujarat.

Boy Missing Since 2021 Found in West Delhi

One of the cases involved a 12-year-old boy who had been missing since 2021. According to police officials, the child was located in Delhi’s Vikas Nagar area following an extensive search operation conducted by the AHTU team.

Investigators said the boy had faced emotional difficulties at home after the death of his mother several years ago. His father later remarried, and the child reportedly struggled to adjust to the changed family environment. During questioning, the boy informed officials that he had lost interest in studies and often left home after being scolded. He had been staying at public places, including Baprola Park and a nearby temple, during the period he remained missing.

Police officials stated that the rescue operation was carried out under the supervision of senior officers from the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, with multiple personnel involved in tracing the child and ensuring his safe return.

Teenage Girl Located in Surat After Leaving Home

In another case, a 16-year-old girl who had been reported missing on April 17 was traced to Surat in Gujarat. Police investigations revealed that she had become friends with a boy studying in the same school. Authorities said the pair left Delhi together and later began living in a rented accommodation in Surat.

After receiving technical inputs and field intelligence, the AHTU team travelled to Gujarat and located the minor safely. Officials confirmed that the girl was reunited with her family after the necessary legal and counselling procedures were completed.

The Crime Branch stated that the operation required close coordination between local police units and investigators working across state borders to ensure the girl’s recovery without any harm.

Another Minor Rescued From Rented Accommodation

A separate investigation involved another 16-year-old girl who had also left her home voluntarily. According to officials, she had developed a friendship with a boy living in her neighbourhood before the two travelled to Surat together.

Police teams later traced the couple to the Ram Nagar area of the city, where they had rented a room. Authorities said the boy had taken up work at a local restaurant while they were staying there.

The same AHTU team handled the rescue effort and ensured the minor was safely brought back to Delhi. Officials added that proper procedures were followed before reuniting her with her family members.

Police Highlight Role of Surveillance and Coordination

Delhi Police officials said the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit worked continuously to track the missing children despite challenges related to distance and time. Teams relied on technical surveillance, local intelligence gathering and field-level coordination to locate the minors.

Authorities also emphasised the importance of a sensitive approach while handling cases involving children who leave home due to personal or emotional reasons. Officials noted that counselling and family support remain essential in helping such children reintegrate safely after they are found.

Police further stated that all three minors were recovered safely and handed back to their families after completing the required legal formalities. Investigators continue to encourage parents and guardians to remain alert to behavioural changes among children and seek timely assistance whenever necessary.
