MaharashtraDay – President Droupadi Murmu on Friday conveyed her greetings to the people of Maharashtra on the occasion of the state’s foundation day, recognising its deep-rooted legacy of social reform and its ongoing contribution to national development.

In her message, the President described Maharashtra as the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, noting that his ideals of bravery and self-respect continue to inspire generations. She also highlighted the influence of several prominent social reformers and leaders who emerged from the state and played a key role in shaping modern India.
Among those mentioned were Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule, pioneers of social reform and education, along with freedom fighters and thinkers such as Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Gopal Krishna Gokhale. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s contribution to social justice and constitutional values was also acknowledged as a defining element of Maharashtra’s legacy.
