Maharashtra Schools: The Maharashtra government has announced a large-scale, coordinated patriotic song drill that will be conducted in schools across the state on Republic Day 2026. The initiative aims to foster unity, national pride, and collective participation among students from diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. The drill will take place immediately after the official Republic Day celebrations on January 26 and will involve schools of every type and medium operating within Maharashtra.

Statewide Participation Across All School Categories

According to Education Minister Dada Bhuse, the drill is designed to be inclusive and expansive. Students from all departments, educational boards, school management types, and language mediums will take part simultaneously. This synchronized effort is expected to create a strong sense of togetherness while celebrating the spirit of the nation through patriotic music.

The minister emphasized that participation will not be limited by curriculum type or language, ensuring that every student feels equally represented. Government, aided, and private schools will all be part of the programme, making it one of the most comprehensive student-led patriotic events in the state’s recent history.

Preparations and Administrative Coordination

During a video conference with senior education officials, Bhuse directed authorities to complete all logistical and administrative preparations well in advance. He instructed officials to plan the event on a scale that reflects not only state-level importance but also a standard that could be appreciated internationally. Careful coordination between district education offices, school administrations, and local authorities has been advised to ensure smooth execution.

Special attention has been given to respecting linguistic diversity while maintaining uniformity in coordination. Officials were told to ensure that the programme reflects cultural sensitivity and inclusiveness without compromising the collective nature of the drill.

Focus on Student and Teacher Convenience

The Education Minister made it clear that the comfort and convenience of teachers and students must remain a priority. Schools have been instructed to organize the drill in a way that avoids disruption to regular activities and does not place unnecessary pressure on participants. Adequate guidance, rehearsal time, and clear instructions are expected to be provided so that the event remains enjoyable and stress-free.

Bhuse also highlighted that enthusiasm should be encouraged organically rather than enforced, allowing students to connect emotionally with the patriotic theme of the programme.

Public Awareness and Media Outreach

To ensure widespread awareness, the state government has planned extensive publicity for the drill. Electronic media, print newspapers, and All India Radio will be used to inform the public and highlight the importance of the initiative. Officials believe that strong media outreach will help build anticipation and reinforce the message of unity and national pride.

Review of Upcoming Board Examinations

In the same meeting, Bhuse reviewed preparations for the upcoming state board examinations, including SSC and HSC exams, scheduled to begin on February 10, 2026. He stressed the need to provide students with a calm, fear-free, and positive examination environment.

The minister directed education departments to ensure that examination centers are well-prepared, properly managed, and supportive of students’ mental well-being. This dual focus on patriotic engagement and academic responsibility reflects the state’s broader educational vision.
