Investment – Andhra Pradesh and Singapore Explore Stronger Economic Partnership

Investment – Andhra Pradesh is taking fresh steps to deepen its partnership with Singapore as part of its broader strategy to attract global investment and accelerate industrial development. During a courtesy meeting held at his residence in Undavalli, Minister for Human Resource Development and Information Technology Nara Lokesh met Edgar Pang Tze Chiang, Consul General of Singapore in Chennai. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation across several strategic sectors, including technology, trade, infrastructure, and investment.

Focus on Expanding Bilateral Cooperation

The meeting highlighted the long-standing relationship between Andhra Pradesh and Singapore, with both sides expressing interest in strengthening collaboration. Edgar Pang Tze Chiang has played an important role in promoting ties between India and Singapore, encouraging partnerships in areas such as technology, maritime development, investment, and commercial exchange. The interaction reflected a shared commitment to exploring new opportunities that can contribute to economic growth and innovation.

Andhra Pradesh Showcases Investment Climate

During the discussions, Nara Lokesh outlined the state’s efforts to create a business-friendly environment through its Speed of Doing Business initiatives. He said the government is working to ensure that investment commitments move beyond announcements and are implemented as operational projects. According to the minister, nearly 750 industrial projects are currently progressing through different stages of execution, with regular review meetings conducted every two weeks to monitor their development and address implementation challenges.

Industrial Growth and Economic Progress

Lokesh also spoke about the state’s industrial expansion plans, noting that Andhra Pradesh is developing 22 industrial clusters to support manufacturing and economic activity. He pointed out that several globally recognised companies, including Google and ArcelorMittal, have chosen to invest in the state, reflecting growing investor confidence. He further stated that Goods and Services Tax collections have increased compared to the previous year, indicating stronger business activity and improving economic performance.

The minister added that the government has worked to resolve several administrative and policy-related issues inherited from earlier years. He said transparent governance and consistent policy implementation remain central to the state’s efforts to attract both domestic and international investors while creating a stable business environment.

Emphasising the importance of international cooperation, Lokesh said Andhra Pradesh is keen to build an even closer relationship with Singapore across multiple sectors. He noted that stronger collaboration could support the state’s long-term development goals by encouraging investments, knowledge sharing, and technological advancement.

Edgar Pang Tze Chiang appreciated the progress made by Andhra Pradesh in attracting investments and acknowledged the government’s development initiatives. He commended the state’s efforts to improve its investment ecosystem and expressed confidence in the opportunities for further cooperation between Singapore and Andhra Pradesh in the coming years.
