Investigation – The investigation into the death of Twisha Sharma has continued to attract public attention, with fresh statements emerging from both the accused family and the victim’s relatives. On Friday, Giribala Singh, the mother-in-law of Twisha Sharma and a retired judge, rejected allegations that she ignored repeated police notices in connection with the dowry death case.

According to Singh, claims circulating in sections of the media regarding her alleged non-cooperation were inaccurate. Speaking to reporters, she said her legal team would respond formally to all accusations and maintained that she had not deliberately avoided the investigation process.

Dispute Over Police Notices

Giribala Singh stated that she had received only one notice through WhatsApp on Thursday and denied receiving any earlier summons from investigators. She questioned why she was being portrayed in an extreme manner during the inquiry and argued that authorities could have easily recorded her statement if they genuinely intended to do so.

She also claimed that several reports being shared publicly had created a misleading narrative around the case. According to her, police officials had access to members of her household, including staff, and therefore could have contacted her directly for questioning at any stage.

CCTV Footage and Evidence Concerns

Addressing questions over her contact with CCTV operators after Twisha Sharma’s death, Singh explained that she was attempting to understand the sequence of events inside the residence. She said surveillance cameras had been installed at the entry and exit points of the house and she wanted to examine the recordings for clarity.

Singh further alleged that audio clips and videos circulating on social media platforms had been edited or manipulated. She accused unnamed individuals of attempting to influence public opinion by sharing selective material connected to the investigation.

At the same time, she insisted that her family had already shared several documents with the authorities and claimed investigators had shown limited interest in certain evidence, including CCTV footage from the residence.

Questions Raised Over Investigation Process

The high-profile nature of the case has intensified after Twisha Sharma’s family approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur seeking cancellation of Giribala Singh’s anticipatory bail. The family has alleged that there has been a lack of cooperation from the accused side and raised concerns over possible tampering with evidence.

Singh, however, denied trying to influence officials. Referring to phone calls she allegedly made after the incident, she said those conversations were connected to condolences and not attempts to interfere with the police investigation.

She also stated that she had no objection to a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry if authorities decided to transfer the matter. According to her, concerns had emerged regarding whether the ongoing probe was being conducted in a balanced and impartial manner.

Bail Granted Earlier This Month

Court records show that Giribala Singh received anticipatory bail on May 15 after furnishing a bond of Rs 50,000. Despite the relief from arrest, the investigation has continued, with Madhya Pradesh Police recently issuing what they described as a third and final notice asking her to appear for statement recording.

The case relates to the death of Twisha Sharma, which investigators are examining under allegations linked to dowry harassment. The matter has triggered widespread discussion due to the legal background of individuals involved and the serious nature of the accusations.

Phone Call Records Add New Dimension

Additional attention was drawn to the investigation after the lawyer representing Twisha Sharma’s family released details of phone numbers allegedly contacted by Giribala Singh between May 12 and May 14. According to the lawyer, the list included senior administrative officials, police officers, medical professionals, members of the judiciary and CCTV operators.

The disclosures have led to further debate over whether the investigation is being handled fairly and transparently. Police officials have not publicly commented in detail on those specific allegations so far.

As the inquiry progresses, legal proceedings in the High Court and future police action are expected to shape the next phase of the case.
