Governance – NDA Marks 12 Years with Nationwide Outreach Campaign

Governance – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday launched a series of programmes across the country to commemorate the completion of 12 years of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The celebrations are aimed at highlighting major policy decisions, governance initiatives, and development projects undertaken during the past decade.

Senior Leaders Lead Public Engagement Efforts

The nationwide campaign began with interactions between senior BJP leaders, Union ministers, and media representatives. Among those participating in the outreach were Home Minister Amit Shah, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and BJP president Nitin Nabin. Through these engagements, the party sought to present its record in governance and discuss key achievements delivered during the NDA’s tenure.

The BJP has outlined a broad schedule of activities in different states over the coming weeks. These events are expected to continue until the start of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, which is likely to take place in July.

Attention Turns to Key Legislative Priorities

Alongside the anniversary celebrations, political attention is increasingly shifting toward possible legislative initiatives that may be introduced during the upcoming parliamentary session. Among the issues generating discussion is the delimitation proposal, which has remained a significant topic in national politics.

The proposed legislation is linked to measures concerning women’s reservation and seeks to redraw parliamentary and state assembly constituencies. The plan could also lead to an increase in the number of seats in both the Lok Sabha and various state legislatures. Earlier this year, the proposal failed to secure approval in the Lok Sabha after being voted on in April.

Strengthening Numbers Boost Coalition Confidence

Recent political developments have contributed to growing confidence within the ruling alliance regarding its parliamentary position. The NDA leadership believes that changes in the political landscape have improved its ability to pursue major legislative objectives.

A notable development emerged within the Trinamool Congress parliamentary ranks, where a large group of Lok Sabha members reportedly expressed support for forming a separate bloc. The group, led by senior leader Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, is understood to be moving closer to the NDA, a shift that could have implications for future parliamentary voting patterns.

Focus on Building Broader Parliamentary Support

The ruling coalition had previously fallen short of the support required to secure a supermajority needed for certain legislative measures. During the April vote, the alliance did not have sufficient numbers to advance the delimitation proposal.

However, recent changes in political alignments are helping strengthen the NDA’s standing in Parliament. Observers note that additional support from lawmakers could improve the coalition’s chances of gathering the backing necessary for key reforms in the future.

At the same time, the NDA is also working to consolidate its position in the Rajya Sabha. Political analysts believe that improved numbers in both Houses of Parliament could play an important role in shaping the government’s legislative agenda during the months ahead.

As preparations continue for the Monsoon Session, attention is likely to remain focused on whether the ruling alliance chooses to revisit major constitutional and electoral reforms, including proposals related to constituency restructuring and representation.
