Flights – Indian aviation authorities are closely watching the situation in West Asia as rising tensions in parts of the region continue to influence international flight operations. On Monday, Indian airlines scheduled around 50 inbound flights from several airports across West Asia, although officials noted that final operations will depend on operational feasibility and prevailing conditions on the ground.
Flights Planned From Key West Asian Airports
According to information shared by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, multiple Indian carriers are preparing to operate services from major airports including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Muscat and Jeddah. The airlines involved in these operations include Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Akasa Air.
Authorities clarified that while flights have been scheduled, the final execution of each service will depend on real-time developments and safety considerations in the region. Airlines are making operational adjustments to ensure passenger safety and maintain orderly flight operations.
Government Closely Monitoring Air Travel Situation
Officials said the Ministry of Civil Aviation is maintaining continuous oversight of the evolving situation in West Asia, especially as it impacts air connectivity with India. The ministry stated that it is coordinating regularly with airlines and other aviation stakeholders to ensure that operations remain stable despite regional uncertainties.
Airlines are also reviewing conditions at various airports across the region to determine whether additional flights can be introduced if required. This ongoing assessment is intended to support passenger travel while ensuring that safety standards are not compromised.
Passenger Traffic From West Asia Remains Significant
Recent passenger movement figures highlight the continued demand for travel between India and the West Asia region. Data from March 7 showed that Indian carriers operated 51 inbound flights from the region to India, transporting a total of 8,175 passengers.
A day later, on March 8, Indian airlines had planned 49 inbound services from the same region. These numbers demonstrate the steady movement of travellers despite the challenging situation affecting parts of West Asia.
Authorities noted that maintaining connectivity remains important due to the large number of Indian nationals living and working across Gulf countries and nearby regions.
Monitoring Ticket Prices and Passenger Convenience
Alongside flight operations, the government is also keeping a close watch on airfare trends. Officials stated that ticket prices are being monitored carefully to prevent an unreasonable surge in fares during the current period.
Ensuring that airfares remain within reasonable limits is considered essential, especially when travel options are limited or subject to sudden adjustments. The ministry emphasized that coordination with airlines is ongoing to ensure that passengers are not adversely affected.
Travellers have also been advised to stay in contact with their respective airlines for real-time updates regarding flight schedules, delays or operational changes.
Air India Announces Additional International Services
In a related development, Air India has announced plans to operate 78 additional flights on nine international routes between March 10 and March 18, 2026. The airline said the move is intended to support passengers during the ongoing situation affecting travel options in parts of West Asia.
The additional services will provide around 17,660 extra seats across multiple routes in both directions.
Air India plans to strengthen connectivity on several major international sectors including Delhi to New York (JFK), Delhi to London (Heathrow) and Mumbai to London (Heathrow). The airline said these routes have been prioritised to accommodate passengers facing limited travel choices.
Additional flights will also operate between Delhi and key European destinations such as Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam and Zurich. Further services will link Delhi with Colombo and Malé to improve connectivity for travellers.

Aviation authorities indicated that the situation remains dynamic and further adjustments may be made depending on developments in the region. The Ministry of Civil Aviation stated that it will continue to monitor conditions closely and release further updates when necessary.
