Fireworks – Jaipur Police Arrest Alleged Operator After Fatal Factory Blast
Fireworks – Nearly a month after a deadly explosion at an unauthorised fireworks facility in Jaipur, police have arrested the man alleged to be running the operation. The accused, identified as 33-year-old Firoz, was taken into custody from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh during a late-night operation, officials said. Eight people were killed in the June 9 incident.

Arrest Made After Weeks of Search
According to Jaipur East Deputy Commissioner of Police Ranjita Sharma, Firoz had remained out of reach since the explosion at the illegal fireworks unit. Police received information about his whereabouts and formed a team from the Khoh Nagorian police station to conduct the raid in Ghaziabad.
The operation was carried out late on Saturday night, leading to Firoz’s arrest. He has now been brought into custody for questioning as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the blast.
Police Probe Focuses on Explosive Materials
Investigators believe the accused arranged explosive materials from suppliers in Delhi and Ghaziabad before sending them to Jaipur. These materials were allegedly used for producing and packing fireworks at units operating without legal permission.
Police are examining the supply chain used to obtain and transport the materials. Officials are also checking whether the accused had links with other individuals or locations involved in the unlawful fireworks business.
Building Owner Already in Jail
The owner of the building where the fireworks operation was allegedly being run, Qayum Khan, was arrested two days after the explosion. He was taken into custody on June 11 and is currently lodged in Jaipur Central Jail.
Police have alleged that Qayum Khan, his brother Yakub, and Firoz were jointly involved in operating the illegal unit. Yakub has not yet been arrested and remains absconding, according to officials.
Investigation Continues Into Jaipur Explosion
The June 9 explosion caused major damage to the premises and resulted in the deaths of eight people. The incident also raised concerns about the operation of illegal fireworks manufacturing units in residential and commercial areas.
Police said the investigation is continuing to determine the full extent of the operation, including the source of raw materials, transportation routes and the possible involvement of other people. Further legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing probe.
