Energy Minister – Amaravati Residents Reject Political Unrest, Says Ravi Kumar

Energy Minister – The political atmosphere in Andhra Pradesh witnessed fresh debate on Sunday after Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar claimed that recent opposition faced by a political gathering in Amaravati reflected growing public support for peace and development over confrontation.

Amaravati residents reject political unrest

Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar on Sunday said the response from women and farmers in Amaravati showed that local residents were no longer willing to accept political activities that, according to him, were aimed at creating unrest. He stated that the public reaction demonstrated a clear preference for stability and orderly governance instead of what he described as attempts to trigger unnecessary tensions through political campaigns.

Government Reaffirms Commitment to Law and Order

In an official statement, Ravi Kumar said the State Government remains committed to maintaining law and order across Andhra Pradesh. He stressed that any activity violating legal norms under the cover of political programmes would not be tolerated. According to the Minister, protecting public safety and ensuring peaceful conditions continue to be among the government’s highest priorities.

He added that democratic rights should always be exercised responsibly and within the framework of the law, emphasizing that authorities would take appropriate action whenever peace and public order were threatened.

Criticism Over Previous Administration’s Policies

The Minister also criticised the previous YSRCP government, arguing that its three-capital proposal failed to deliver meaningful progress for Amaravati. He alleged that uncertainty surrounding the policy slowed infrastructure growth in the capital region and negatively affected the overall pace of development across Andhra Pradesh.

Ravi Kumar maintained that the delay in advancing Amaravati as the State capital had consequences beyond the region itself, impacting investment opportunities and long-term economic planning. He said the present government is focused on accelerating development projects that had remained pending for several years.

Allegations Against the Opposition

Continuing his criticism, Ravi Kumar accused the YSRCP of changing its political messaging after losing power. He claimed that instead of maintaining a consistent position on major public issues, the opposition had adopted different narratives and political strategies that could weaken public confidence.

According to the Minister, the response witnessed in Amaravati reflected the public’s growing dissatisfaction with such political approaches. He suggested that residents were increasingly supporting governance centred on development rather than prolonged political disputes.

NDA Government Focuses on Development Agenda

Reiterating the NDA government’s priorities, Ravi Kumar said the administration remains committed to strengthening infrastructure, protecting democratic institutions, and promoting inclusive development throughout the State. He stated that economic growth and public welfare would continue to receive greater attention than political confrontation.

The Minister concluded by saying that while democratic expression remains important, any attempt to disturb peace or violate the law would be addressed firmly through legal measures. He reaffirmed that the government intends to pursue development initiatives while ensuring a stable and secure environment for citizens across Andhra Pradesh.
