Elections – Delhi Begins Large-Scale Voter Roll Verification Drive From June 30
Elections – Delhi is preparing to launch a major revision of its electoral rolls from June 30, as election officials begin a citywide verification campaign aimed at updating voter records ahead of future polls. The exercise will involve thousands of booth-level officers visiting homes across the national capital to confirm voter details and distribute enumeration forms.

Preparations Underway Before Verification Starts
Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Kumar said the groundwork for the Special Intensive Revision process will take place between June 20 and June 29. During this period, officials will focus on training booth-level officers, commonly known as BLOs, and printing the required forms for the exercise.
Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, Kumar stated that the Election Department has established multiple layers of monitoring to ensure transparency during the verification campaign. Political parties will also take part in the process through booth-level agents, who will observe and assist in verification activities at the local level.
According to officials, all important updates and instructions related to the revision process will be uploaded to the office website of the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer.
Door-To-Door Verification Across Delhi
The electoral roll revision will cover residents who are eligible voters as of October 1. Officials said more than 13,000 BLOs will carry out door-to-door visits in different parts of Delhi to verify information already available in the voter database.
Every registered voter whose name currently appears on the electoral list will receive two copies of the enumeration form. One copy must be completed and handed back to the BLO during the verification process. Authorities have also arranged an online option for digital submission to make the process easier for residents who prefer electronic filing.
The Election Department believes the combination of physical and digital submission methods will improve participation and reduce delays in updating voter information.
Awareness Campaigns Planned For Voter Participation
To ensure that voters understand the process, the Delhi election office plans to organise awareness drives and special assistance camps in various areas. These camps are expected to help residents fill out forms correctly and resolve queries related to voter registration or corrections in personal details.
Officials said the revision exercise is important for maintaining accurate electoral records and ensuring that eligible citizens are included in the updated voter list. The department also hopes that greater public awareness will encourage faster completion of the verification process.
Election authorities have repeatedly stressed that the exercise is routine and intended to strengthen the accuracy of electoral rolls before upcoming elections.
Timeline For Draft And Final Electoral Roll
The door-to-door verification campaign is scheduled to begin on June 30 and continue until July 29. After the completion of field verification, the draft electoral roll will be published on August 5.
Citizens will then get an opportunity to raise objections or request corrections before the final voter list is prepared. The updated and final electoral roll is expected to be released on October 7 following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision process.
Officials said the large-scale operation will require coordination between election staff, political representatives, and local administration to ensure smooth implementation throughout the city.
The Election Department has advised residents to cooperate with BLOs during home visits and submit their forms within the given timeline to avoid discrepancies in voter records.
