He credited the people of the state for their warmth and support, stating that their affection has played a significant role in shaping his experiences. According to him, the connection goes beyond politics and is rooted in a deeper sense of respect and devotion.

Confidence in Electoral Outcome

Calling the Barrackpore rally his concluding campaign event in the state, Modi said he had observed strong public support during his visits across various regions. Based on these interactions, he expressed confidence that the BJP would emerge successful after the counting of votes.

He noted that the enthusiasm seen during rallies and roadshows reflected a shift in voter sentiment. According to him, the party’s performance would translate into a mandate once results are announced.

The Prime Minister also shared details of his interactions with supporters during the campaign. He mentioned receiving numerous letters, artworks, and messages from people across the state. These gestures, he said, hold personal significance for him.

He explained that after campaign events, he often takes time to go through these messages and artworks carefully. Some, he said, convey concerns and struggles, while others reflect encouragement and goodwill. He added that he ensures responses are recorded thoughtfully.

He also remarked that since entering public life, he has found a sense of belonging among the people, describing them as an extended family.

Key Contest in Barrackpore Constituency

The rally was held in support of BJP candidate Kaustav Bagchi, who is contesting against Trinamool Congress leader and current MLA Raj Chakraborty. The seat is witnessing a competitive contest, with CPI(M) candidate Suman Ranjan Bandyopadhyay also in the fray.

Barrackpore, located in the North 24 Parganas district, is an urban constituency and forms part of the Barrackpore Lok Sabha segment.

Polling Schedule and Voter Turnout

Earlier, the Prime Minister visited the historic Thanthania Kalibari temple in Kolkata, where he offered prayers before beginning a roadshow. The temple, known for its long history, remains a significant religious site in the region.

The first phase of polling in the state has already concluded, recording a high voter turnout of 91.78 percent, as per data from the Election Commission of India. The second phase of voting is scheduled for April 29, with vote counting set for May 4.

The upcoming phase is expected to play a crucial role in determining the direction of the electoral contest, with political parties intensifying their efforts to reach voters in the final stretch of campaigning.
