EducationNews – Rahul Gandhi and Dharmendra Pradhan Clash Over CBSE Result Concerns

EducationNews –  A fresh political dispute emerged on Thursday as Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi exchanged sharp remarks over concerns linked to the CBSE Class XII examination results. The disagreement centers on allegations regarding the evaluation process used by the Central Board of Secondary Education, with both leaders presenting contrasting views on the issue.

Rahul Gandhi raised questions about the digital assessment mechanism adopted during the evaluation of Class XII answer sheets. According to him, numerous students have expressed concerns that the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system may have adversely influenced their final scores. He argued that the matter deserves independent scrutiny and called for a detailed investigation into the complaints being raised by students and parents.

Gandhi Demands Independent Investigation

The Congress leader urged authorities to establish a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and initiate a judicial inquiry to examine the allegations surrounding the evaluation process. Gandhi claimed that transparency was necessary to restore confidence among students and families affected by the controversy.

He also questioned the decision to award the digital evaluation contract to COEMPT. Referring to the company’s earlier history, he alleged that the firm had previously been associated with controversies under its former name, Globarena. Gandhi sought clarification regarding the circumstances under which the contract was approved and whether adequate verification procedures were followed before assigning the project.

Education Minister Rejects Allegations

Responding to the accusations, Dharmendra Pradhan criticized Gandhi for what he described as an attempt to politicize the matter. The minister suggested that the Congress leader’s criticism was driven by political frustration following repeated electoral setbacks.

Pradhan stated that Gandhi had frequently opposed several government initiatives in the past, including programs related to technological advancement and digital transformation. According to the minister, such criticism reflected a broader disagreement with India’s efforts to expand scientific and technological capabilities.

Government Assures Action If Irregularities Are Found

Addressing concerns about the evaluation process, Pradhan emphasized that the procedures followed by CBSE were consistent with the procurement policies established by the Government of India. He maintained that all decisions had been taken within the framework of existing regulations.

The minister also assured students and parents that the government would not ignore any verified wrongdoing. He stated that appropriate action would be taken if investigations uncover any irregularities or misconduct. At the same time, he appealed to political parties to avoid turning the issue into a political confrontation while concerns related to students are being examined.

Pradhan further acknowledged the anxiety experienced by some students and families and said the government remains committed to ensuring fairness and accountability within the education system.

Congress Leader Intensifies Criticism

Gandhi responded strongly to the minister’s remarks, stating that personal attacks would not divert attention from the questions being raised regarding the examination process. He asserted that answers were needed for the benefit of approximately 18.5 lakh students who appeared for the examinations.

Through a series of public statements, Gandhi questioned the rationale behind selecting COEMPT for the project and demanded greater transparency regarding the company’s relationship with government authorities. He also sought explanations about the approval process and the safeguards that were supposedly implemented before awarding the contract.

The Congress leader additionally argued that if the concerns affecting students were taken seriously at the highest level, accountability should be enforced within the education administration. The exchange has added a political dimension to an issue that continues to draw attention from students, parents, and education stakeholders across the country.
