CrimeNews – Elderly Watchman Killed After Brutal SUV Assault in Delhi
CrimeNews – A 60-year-old security guard lost his life after a violent attack involving an SUV driver in Delhi’s Peeragarhi area on Sunday, prompting police to launch a murder investigation into the shocking incident.

The deceased, identified as Bijender Bharadwaj, was a resident of Peeragarhi village and worked as a watchman at a local tempo stand where the crime unfolded. According to officials, the assault took place in broad view of the area, and investigators are now relying heavily on CCTV footage collected from nearby locations to reconstruct the sequence of events.
CCTV Footage Reveals Disturbing Sequence
Police sources stated that the CCTV recordings captured a suspicious SUV parked near the tempo stand for several minutes before the attack. The vehicle reportedly remained stationary with its headlights switched on while Bharadwaj sat nearby on a chair, seemingly unaware of any danger.
After waiting for some time, a man allegedly stepped out of the SUV carrying a large stick. The footage reportedly shows the accused approaching the watchman and attacking him without any visible argument or confrontation beforehand. Authorities believe the nature of the assault suggests the victim may have been intentionally targeted.
Victim Run Over Twice During Attack
Investigators said that after the initial assault, the victim attempted to protect himself and move away from the attacker. However, the accused allegedly returned to the SUV and drove the vehicle directly at Bharadwaj, hitting him and pushing him toward one side of the road.
Even after the first impact, the victim reportedly tried to escape from the scene. Police said the SUV driver then turned the vehicle again and ran over him a second time before fleeing rapidly from the area. The brutal nature of the incident has shocked local residents and raised concerns over violent crimes in the locality.
Police Register Murder Case
Following the incident, a PCR van reached the spot after receiving an emergency call. Officers found Bharadwaj lying unconscious on the road and immediately shifted him to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Doctors later declared him dead upon arrival.
Delhi Police have registered a murder case under Sections 103 and 3 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Paschim Vihar West police station. Officials confirmed that teams have been formed to identify and trace the accused driver involved in the case.
A senior police officer said that preliminary examination of the video evidence points toward a deliberate attack rather than a road accident. Investigators are also examining the background of the victim and checking whether there was any previous dispute linked to the crime.
Local Residents Demand Swift Action
Residents of Peeragarhi expressed concern after the incident and demanded quick action against the accused. Many locals described Bharadwaj as a familiar face in the area who had been working at the tempo stand for years.
Police personnel continue to scan CCTV footage from surrounding roads and intersections to determine the movement of the SUV before and after the crime. Authorities are also speaking with witnesses and nearby shopkeepers to gather further information that could help identify the suspect.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials said additional details will be shared once more evidence is collected.
