CrimeNews – Delhi Police Arrest Two Wanted Men After Gunfight in South Delhi

CrimeNews – Two men wanted in connection with a high-profile kidnapping and murder case in Ghaziabad were arrested by the Delhi Police following an armed confrontation in South Delhi. Officials said both suspects had reward announcements of Rs 50,000 each and had been on the run for nearly two weeks before their capture.

Operation Conducted After Intelligence Input

According to police officials, the arrested individuals have been identified as Saurabh, also known by the aliases Bhola and Prince, aged 25, and Gopal, aged 23. Both are residents of the Loni area in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Investigators stated that the Crime Branch received credible information indicating that the two suspects had entered Delhi and were allegedly planning to target a rival as part of an ongoing dispute.

Acting on the intelligence, a police team was deployed near Aurobindo College in the Malviya Nagar area. Officers maintained surveillance and prepared an operation to intercept the suspects based on the information received.

Encounter Took Place During Early Morning Hours

Police said the incident occurred around 2 a.m. when officers noticed two men travelling on a motorcycle matching the description provided by informants. The team signalled them to stop for questioning, but the suspects allegedly attempted to escape instead.

During the chase, the two men reportedly opened fire on the police personnel. Officials stated that the suspects used semi-automatic firearms while trying to evade arrest. In response, the police team returned fire, leading to a brief exchange of gunshots.

Suspects Injured and Taken Into Custody

During the encounter, both accused sustained gunshot wounds to their legs. Police personnel immediately secured the area and took the injured men into custody. They were subsequently shifted to a hospital, where they are receiving treatment under strict police supervision.

Authorities confirmed that their injuries were not life-threatening. Security arrangements have been strengthened around the hospital to ensure that the accused remain under continuous watch during their recovery.

Firearms Recovered During Investigation

Investigators said Saurabh was allegedly carrying a .32-bore Beretta semi-automatic pistol manufactured in Italy and is accused of firing four rounds during the encounter. Gopal allegedly used a .30-bore semi-automatic pistol and fired two rounds at the police team.

The recovered weapons have been sent for forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation. Officials are also examining whether the firearms were used in any previous criminal activities linked to the suspects.

Links to Kidnapping and Murder Case

Police stated that both men were wanted in separate cases connected to the alleged kidnapping and murder of a man in Ghaziabad. Since the incident, they had reportedly been avoiding arrest and frequently changing locations to evade law enforcement agencies.

With their arrest, investigators expect to gather additional information regarding the case and any associates who may have assisted them while they were absconding. Further questioning and legal proceedings are expected in the coming days.

Legal Action Initiated

Delhi Police confirmed that a fresh case has been registered against the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. The investigation remains active, and authorities are continuing to examine all aspects related to the case.
