CrimeNews – A serving Army personnel was taken into custody in Ranchi after a college student accused him of molestation while she was returning home on Friday evening. Police officials confirmed that a formal case has been registered and further investigation into the incident is continuing.

Incident Reported in Lalpur Area
According to police officials, the alleged incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Lalpur police station in Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand. The 23-year-old student was reportedly on her way home from college when the accused allegedly misbehaved with her.
Authorities stated that the woman later approached the police and filed a complaint regarding the incident. Based on her statement and supporting technical evidence collected during the preliminary inquiry, officers initiated legal action against the accused.
Accused Sent to Judicial Custody
Lalpur police station officer-in-charge Rupesh Kumar said the accused, a 38-year-old Army jawan, was arrested shortly after the complaint was registered. After completion of initial legal formalities, he was produced before the court and sent to judicial custody.
Police confirmed that an FIR was lodged under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigators are currently examining all available evidence connected to the case.

Officials associated with the investigation said the accused belongs to Haryana and was posted in the Namkum area of Ranchi at the time of the incident. Authorities have not released additional personal details as the inquiry remains active.
