Badrinath Temple – BKTC Orders Enquiry Into Alleged Offering Irregularities

Badrinath Temple –  The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has initiated a formal investigation after allegations of irregularities in offerings at Shri Badrinath Dham began circulating on social media. The development comes amid wider public discussion around the handling of donations at prominent religious sites.

Committee Forms Panel to Review Claims

BKTC President Hemant Dwivedi said the committee has treated the allegations seriously and formed an enquiry panel to examine all aspects of the matter. According to him, the investigation will be conducted on the basis of available facts and records rather than online claims.

The committee has also issued notices to staff members whose names have been linked to the allegations. They have been asked to submit their responses as part of the preliminary process.

Staff Member’s Role Clarified

Dwivedi addressed social media posts that described one of the employees named in the matter as his personal secretary. He said the claim was incorrect and clarified that he does not have a personal secretary.

According to the BKTC president, the employee is a regular government staff member attached to the temple committee. He added that the person has worked during the tenures of the previous three committee chairpersons as well.

Action Promised if Charges Are Established

Dwivedi said the enquiry committee has been asked to conduct an impartial review of the allegations related to offerings at Shri Badrinath Temple. He stated that the panel would assess whether there was any manipulation or misuse in the collection and handling of donations.

He said strict action would follow if any employee is found responsible after the investigation is completed. At present, the committee has not confirmed the allegations and has said conclusions will be drawn only after the enquiry report is received.

Appeal Against Unverified Social Media Posts

The BKTC president appealed to devotees and the public not to share unverified information about the issue. He said Shri Badrinath Dham and Shri Kedarnath Dham hold deep religious importance for millions of devotees, making it necessary for people to avoid spreading rumours that could create confusion.

Dwivedi said social media messages should not be treated as confirmed information until the official enquiry establishes the facts. The committee, he added, is focused on ensuring that the process remains fair and transparent.

Findings Expected After Official Investigation

The enquiry is expected to determine whether the claims concerning temple offerings have any factual basis. The BKTC has maintained that it will take appropriate action after reviewing the panel’s findings.

The committee said it remains committed to accountability in the administration of both Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines. Further details are likely to emerge once the enquiry process is completed and the committee receives the final report.
