AviationSafety – Training Aircraft Crash-Lands Near Baramati Without Injuries
AviationSafety – A training aircraft operated by a private aviation institute made an emergency landing near Baramati in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Wednesday morning after experiencing a technical problem during flight operations. Authorities confirmed that the trainee pilot on board escaped safely and no injuries were reported in the incident.

Aircraft Develops Mid-Flight Technical Problem
According to police officials, the aircraft belonged to Redbird Flight Training Academy and was flying near the Baramati airstrip when the issue occurred. The aircraft eventually came down close to Gojubavi village at around 8:50 am.
Pune Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill said preliminary findings indicate that the plane was operating at a relatively low altitude before the pilot encountered a technical malfunction. Witnesses in the area informed officials that the aircraft appeared unstable moments before it descended rapidly toward the ground.
Light Pole Hit During Emergency Landing
During the emergency landing attempt, part of the aircraft reportedly struck a roadside light pole before landing on the ground. The impact caused visible damage to the trainer aircraft, though the pilot managed to avoid serious consequences.
Local residents gathered near the site shortly after the incident, while emergency teams and police personnel quickly reached the area to secure the location and begin initial investigations. Officials ensured that there was no immediate danger to nearby residents or infrastructure following the crash landing.
Pilot Escapes Safely
Authorities confirmed that only the trainee pilot was inside the aircraft at the time of the accident. The pilot escaped unharmed and did not require hospital treatment. Officials have not yet disclosed the identity of the pilot or details regarding the specific training sortie being conducted before the incident occurred.
Aviation experts generally note that training aircraft are designed to allow pilots to handle emergency situations during practice sessions, and emergency landing procedures are a standard part of pilot instruction. However, investigators will examine whether mechanical failure, maintenance issues, or other operational factors contributed to the accident.
Investigation and Technical Examination Underway
Police officials stated that an inquiry has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the malfunction. Technical teams are expected to inspect the aircraft thoroughly, including its engine systems and flight control components.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) may also review the incident as part of standard aviation safety procedures. Authorities are likely to collect statements from eyewitnesses, academy officials, and maintenance staff during the investigation process.
Previous Incidents Raise Safety Concerns
Aircraft associated with the same aviation training company have reportedly been involved in earlier incidents within the Pune district. While officials have not linked the current event to previous accidents, the repeated occurrences could draw attention toward operational safety measures and aircraft maintenance standards followed by flight training institutions.
Baramati has emerged as an important aviation training hub in recent years, with several flying schools conducting pilot training programs from the local airstrip. Such incidents often prompt closer monitoring of safety compliance and training protocols within the sector.
Officials said further action would depend on the outcome of the ongoing investigation and technical assessment of the aircraft.
