Blood Donation Camp Held in Kailashahar

The Radhanagar Battalion of Assam Rifles, working alongside the Kailashahar Blood Donors Association, organised a blood donation camp at Bhagat Singh Auditorium in Kailashahar, Tripura, to observe World Blood Donor Day. The initiative attracted active participation from local residents as well as Assam Rifles personnel, who voluntarily donated blood to support healthcare needs in the region.

The programme focused on encouraging voluntary blood donation and raising public awareness about the critical role blood donors play in saving lives. Organisers emphasized the importance of regular community participation in maintaining adequate blood supplies for hospitals and emergency medical services.

District Magistrate Appreciates Donors

During the event, Unakoti District Magistrate Megha Jain visited the venue and interacted with participants. She commended the donors for their willingness to contribute to a cause that directly benefits patients in need of lifesaving treatment. Her visit served as an encouragement to both first-time and regular donors who took part in the campaign.

Officials noted that such community-driven programmes help strengthen cooperation between security forces and civilians while promoting social responsibility. The event also reflected the broader commitment of Assam Rifles to public welfare activities beyond its operational duties.

Significance of World Blood Donor Day

Observed globally every year on June 14, World Blood Donor Day recognises individuals who voluntarily donate blood and contribute to healthcare systems worldwide. The occasion serves as a reminder of the ongoing need for safe and sufficient blood supplies and encourages more people to become regular donors.

Health experts often stress that voluntary blood donation remains one of the most effective ways to support emergency care, surgeries, and treatment for patients suffering from serious medical conditions. Awareness campaigns conducted on this day aim to increase participation and ensure the availability of blood for those who need it most.

Joint Security Operation Conducted in Manipur

In a separate development, Assam Rifles and Thoubal Police Commandos carried out a joint operation in the Purnaheitupokpi area of Kakching district in Manipur on Sunday. The operation resulted in the recovery of a substantial quantity of weapons, ammunition, and other military-related materials.

According to information shared by Assam Rifles, the action was part of ongoing efforts to curb unlawful activities and maintain stability in the region. Security officials stated that the recovery represented a significant setback for insurgent groups operating in the area and reinforced the commitment of law enforcement agencies to preserving peace and public safety.

Weapons and Equipment Recovered

During the operation, security personnel seized a USA-made .32 pistol along with four rounds of ammunition. Additional recoveries included two single-barrel breech-loading guns, two detonators, and various rounds of ammunition comprising AK-series, SLR, .303, and INSAS cartridges.

Authorities also recovered a striker spring, two tear smoke shells, a bipod, and multiple stickers bearing the logo of a proscribed group. Officials are continuing their investigation into the origin and intended use of the seized materials.

The twin developments underline Assam Rifles’ dual role in supporting community welfare initiatives and contributing to security operations aimed at maintaining stability in the northeastern region.
