Andhra Pradesh – Jagan Raises Law-and-Order Concerns Against NDA Government
Andhra Pradesh – YSR Congress Party president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday levelled serious allegations against the NDA-led government in Andhra Pradesh, claiming that public institutions and law-enforcement systems were being misused. He said the state was witnessing an atmosphere of fear and called on the Telugu Desam Party to respond to concerns involving policing, social justice and governance.

Allegations over custodial death case
Speaking to reporters at the YSRCP headquarters, Jagan referred to the custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna in Vijayawada and questioned the progress of the investigation. He alleged that the matter became widely known only after he visited the deceased person’s family.
Jagan asked why senior officials had not faced action in connection with the case. He also sought an explanation for the alleged disappearance of CCTV footage from multiple storage locations, including the police station, command-and-control centre and the office of the Director General of Police.
According to him, the absence of the footage raised concerns about whether the investigation was being handled transparently. He said the authorities should ensure that all available evidence is preserved and examined.
Questions raised over investigation process
The former Chief Minister also cited details contained in the remand report, alleging that the investigation had not collected certain call data and that the loss of surveillance footage could weaken the case. He accused the state administration of attempting to shield influential individuals, though he did not provide independent evidence for the allegation.
He further referred to the death of Dalit youth Kranthi Kumar, saying a video described by him as a dying declaration had circulated online. Jagan alleged that police were not treating the matter with the seriousness it required. The government and police have not publicly responded to the specific allegations made at the press conference.
Claims of political misuse of police
Jagan introduced the slogan, “Hey Ram, Save Andhra,” while accusing Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of using the state machinery to target political opponents. He alleged that cases were being registered against people who criticised the government or challenged its decisions.
Referring to an altercation in Undavalli, he said YSRCP workers had been attacked by TDP supporters but were later named in police cases. Jagan described this as a pattern in which those claiming to be victims were instead treated as accused.
He said his party would continue to pursue the matter through democratic and legal means. The allegations reflect the continuing political confrontation between the YSRCP and the ruling alliance in the state.
Demand for clarity on social issues
The YSRCP leader also called for greater transparency regarding the Andhra Pradesh government’s submissions before the Justice Balakrishnan Commission. He alleged that some TDP leaders were attempting to create divisions by raising caste and religious issues in political discussions.
Jagan said the government should place clear information before the public on its position and policies. He maintained that questions relating to public safety, institutional accountability and social representation should be addressed through transparent governance rather than political confrontation.
