Accident News –  A fatal collision involving a private travel bus and a tipper lorry claimed one life and left at least 10 passengers injured on the Yerra Gudem National Highway in Andhra Pradesh during the early hours of Thursday.

Collision Reported in East Godavari District

The accident occurred in Devarapalle Mandal of East Godavari district when a Sri Venkata Ramana private travel bus travelling from Rajam to Vijayawada crashed into a tipper lorry on the highway. Officials said the bus was carrying nearly 40 passengers at the time of the incident.

According to preliminary information shared by police authorities, the impact of the collision caused panic among passengers and disrupted traffic movement briefly along the route. Several travellers inside the bus suffered injuries of varying severity.

Emergency Teams Shift Injured Passengers

Local motorists who witnessed the accident alerted the Devarapalli police soon after the crash. Rescue teams and police personnel quickly reached the location and began relief operations.

The injured passengers were first taken to the Government Hospital in Gopalapuram for emergency treatment. Due to the seriousness of some injuries, doctors later referred several victims to the Government Hospital in Rajahmundry for advanced medical care.

Authorities stated that medical teams responded promptly to stabilise the injured passengers. Police also worked to clear the damaged vehicles from the highway to restore normal traffic flow.

Victim Identified by Police

Police confirmed that one passenger lost his life in the accident. The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Naru Sai Anil Kumar, a resident of the Panasalavalasa area in Rajam.

Officials said the body was shifted to the Government Hospital in Rajahmundry for post-mortem examination. Family members of the deceased were informed shortly after identification procedures were completed.

The tragic death has caused grief among relatives and residents in the victim’s hometown, where locals described him as a young man travelling for work-related purposes.

Investigation Into Cause of Crash Begins

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the collision. Officers are examining whether overspeeding, low visibility, driver fatigue, or mechanical issues may have contributed to the crash.

Authorities are also collecting statements from injured passengers and eyewitnesses as part of the inquiry. Traffic officials are expected to review the condition of both vehicles involved in the accident.

Road accidents involving heavy vehicles and long-distance buses continue to remain a serious concern on several national highways in Andhra Pradesh. Officials have repeatedly urged commercial vehicle drivers and private transport operators to follow speed regulations and safety guidelines, especially during night and early morning travel hours.

The latest accident once again highlights ongoing concerns regarding passenger safety on busy highway stretches connecting different districts of Andhra Pradesh. Transport experts have often pointed out that fatigue during overnight journeys and reckless driving remain major causes behind highway mishaps.
