UAE – Ambassador Urges Stronger British Support After Recent Attacks
UAE – The United Arab Emirates has appealed for stronger backing from the United Kingdom after a series of attacks that officials say have disrupted key infrastructure and heightened tensions across the region. The UAE’s ambassador to Britain, Mansoor Abulhoul, described the strikes as unjustified and stressed that closer cooperation with long-standing allies remains essential during the ongoing crisis.
UAE Calls for Greater Cooperation With Britain
Speaking about the situation, Abulhoul noted that the UAE values its long-standing relationship with the United Kingdom and hopes that cooperation could expand further as security challenges intensify. While acknowledging the assistance and communication already received from the British government, he said additional support from trusted partners would be welcomed.
According to the ambassador, the strategic partnership between the two countries extends far beyond diplomatic ties. He pointed to decades of shared history, strong trade relations, and extensive connections between citizens of both nations. These factors, he said, make the relationship particularly important during times of instability.
Deep Economic and Social Links
The UAE has become one of the United Kingdom’s key economic partners, with significant investment flows and strong trade volumes between the two countries. Abulhoul highlighted that the Gulf nation maintains a major investment presence in Britain while also hosting a large community of British residents and professionals.
He explained that these people-to-people connections reinforce the importance of maintaining close coordination between the two governments. In times of crisis, such ties encourage collaboration and mutual support, reflecting what he described as the expectations of trusted allies.
Despite the difficult circumstances, the ambassador said the UAE’s immediate priority is safeguarding residents, expatriates, and critical infrastructure. Authorities, he added, are focused on maintaining stability and protecting the country’s territory.
Transport Disruptions Affect Airports and Travelers
The recent wave of attacks has had a visible impact on transportation across the Gulf region. Several major airports have experienced disruptions after being targeted or affected by missile interceptions, leaving thousands of passengers stranded over the past week.
Dubai has been among the locations facing the consequences of the escalating conflict. Debris from intercepted missiles reportedly landed in parts of the city over the weekend, causing localized damage and raising safety concerns among residents and visitors.
On Saturday evening, fragments struck the Fairmont hotel on Palm Jumeirah. Video circulating online showed flames rising within the building’s central atrium as emergency services responded to the incident.
The following morning, additional missile debris was reported near Dubai International Airport, further complicating travel for passengers already affected by flight delays and cancellations.
Civilian Infrastructure Also Affected
Media reports indicate that fragments from intercepted missiles also caused damage to several well-known locations in the city. Among the sites reportedly affected were the Burj Al Arab, the Port of Jebel Ali, and other civilian areas. While authorities have worked quickly to address the damage, the incidents have highlighted the growing risks posed by the expanding regional conflict.
Officials say efforts remain focused on maintaining security while minimizing disruption to everyday life and travel across the Emirates.
Regional Conflict Continues to Escalate
The latest tensions follow a major escalation on February 28, when the United States and Israel reportedly carried out coordinated airstrikes targeting multiple military sites inside Iran. According to reports, the strikes focused on command facilities, missile installations, air-defense systems, and other strategic infrastructure.
Large explosions were reported in several Iranian cities, including Tehran. Iranian authorities confirmed that the attacks resulted in the deaths of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several senior military and security officials.

In response to the strikes, Iran launched ballistic missiles and drones aimed at American facilities and allied countries across the Middle East. Targets reportedly included Israel, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan.
