TaiwanSecurity – Taiwan reported a noticeable rise in military activity around the island on Thursday, with authorities detecting 32 aircraft from China’s military, 10 naval vessels, and five government-operated ships in surrounding areas. The information was released by Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense, which said the movements were observed up to 6 a.m. local time.
Increased Aircraft Presence Around Taiwan
According to the ministry, 25 of the 32 aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered sections of Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). The flights were recorded in multiple areas, including the northern, central, southwestern, and eastern sectors surrounding the island.
Taiwan’s defense authorities stated that all activities were closely tracked and that appropriate monitoring and response measures were carried out to ensure regional security and maintain situational awareness.
Military Movements Continue for Second Consecutive Day
The latest figures follow a similar report released a day earlier. On Wednesday, Taiwan recorded 18 aircraft sorties, eight naval vessels, and six official Chinese ships operating near its territory. Of those aircraft, 14 crossed the median line and entered the northern and southwestern sections of Taiwan’s ADIZ.
The defense ministry noted that its armed forces remained vigilant throughout the operations and continued to monitor developments in the surrounding air and maritime zones.
Domestic Submarine Advances Sea Trial Program
At the same time, Taiwan has continued testing its first domestically developed submarine. According to a report by Focus Taiwan, the vessel recently departed from the Port of Kaohsiung to conduct another round of sea trials.
The latest mission included underwater testing and marked the submarine’s 15th overall sea trial. It was also reported to be the ninth test involving submerged navigation. The milestone reflects Taiwan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its indigenous defense capabilities amid changing regional security conditions.

The submarine testing and increased military activity come at a time when tensions across the Taiwan Strait remain closely watched by governments and defense analysts worldwide.
