Skydiving- Plane Crash in France Leaves Eleven Dead After Takeoff Failure
Skydiving- A tragic aviation accident claimed 11 lives in northeastern France on Sunday after a plane carrying skydivers crashed moments after departing from a local airfield. Officials said the aircraft experienced a serious technical problem shortly after takeoff, leaving no survivors among those on board.

Aircraft Went Down Seconds After Departure
The aircraft, registered in Germany and operated by a skydiving club, took off from the Nancy-Essey Airport near the town of Tomblaine, close to the city of Nancy. Authorities said the plane lost control almost immediately after becoming airborne and plunged nearly straight to the ground.
Preliminary flight tracking information indicated that the aircraft turned sharply to the left shortly after takeoff before crashing less than a minute into the flight. The plane has been identified as a single-engine Pilatus PC-6, a model commonly used for transporting parachutists, passengers and cargo.
Victims Included Instructors, Pilot and Clients
Officials confirmed that all 11 people aboard the aircraft lost their lives. The victims included five professional skydiving instructors, five clients participating in the jump, and the pilot operating the flight.
According to a source familiar with the investigation, the group of clients consisted of nurses who had gathered for the skydiving activity. Authorities have not yet officially released the identities of those who died, pending notification of their families.
Crash Site Narrowly Avoided Greater Disaster
The aircraft came down in a grassy area near residential buildings and close to two nearby roads on the edge of the airport. Local officials noted that the location of the impact likely prevented additional casualties on the ground.
The prefect of the Meurthe-et-Moselle department said the consequences could have been far worse if the aircraft had crashed only a short distance away into the surrounding neighborhood. He also confirmed that no pedestrians or local residents were injured in the incident.
Witness Describes Final Moments
Residents living near the airport reported hearing unusual engine sounds before the crash. One local witness told French media that he was working in his garden when the aircraft’s engine appeared to stop suddenly, followed almost instantly by a powerful explosion.
After reaching the crash site, he said there were no visible signs of survivors. He also described seeing debris scattered around the impact area as emergency responders quickly arrived to secure the location.
Emergency Teams Responded Immediately
Firefighters, police officers and medical personnel rushed to the scene shortly after the accident. Authorities established a security perimeter around the wreckage while investigators began documenting evidence.
Psychological support teams were also deployed to assist relatives of the victims as well as residents and witnesses affected by the tragedy. Officials urged members of the public to stay away from the airport area to allow emergency crews to carry out rescue and investigative work without interruption.
Investigation Underway Into Cause of Crash
The exact reason behind the crash remains unknown. Investigators have launched both a technical examination of the aircraft and a judicial inquiry to determine what led to the fatal accident. Witness statements are also being collected as part of the investigation.
French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez was expected to travel to the crash site later in the day to receive updates from emergency officials and investigators. Authorities said further information will be released as the inquiry progresses and additional evidence becomes available.
