Air Force One – Trump Marks Library Event With Refurbished Aircraft Flight
Air Force One – US President Donald Trump said his trip to North Dakota for the dedication of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library also included the first flight of a refurbished Air Force One aircraft. Speaking in Medora on Wednesday, Trump described the journey as a notable moment for the presidential fleet and said the aircraft had not made such a flight in 37 years.

Trump Highlights Aircraft During Medora Address
Before focusing on Theodore Roosevelt’s legacy, Trump briefly spoke about the aircraft that carried him to the event. He called it an inaugural flight for Air Force One and praised the plane during his remarks to supporters.
“It was an inaugural flight of a certain airplane called Air Force One, after 37 years,” Trump said. He added that it was “a great plane” and said the group travelling with him had enjoyed the trip.
The White House did not immediately provide further information about the upgrades or the exact aircraft referenced by Trump. His comments, however, placed the flight among the key developments of the day.
President Attends Theodore Roosevelt Library Dedication
Trump travelled to Medora to participate in the dedication of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. His appearance made him the first sitting US President to take part in the opening ceremony of the institution.
During the event, Trump presented Theodore Roosevelt’s Congressional Medal of Honor to the library. The medal had previously been displayed in the Roosevelt Room at the White House.
Trump said Theodore Roosevelt was one of the historical figures he had admired for a long time. He described the 26th US President as an exceptional leader and said it was meaningful to take part in an event dedicated to his life and public service.
Burgum Calls Ceremony a Historic Occasion
US Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, who hosted the programme, described Trump’s participation as a historic moment for the library and the region. He said visitors would hear a recorded reading by Trump of Roosevelt’s well-known “Man in the Arena” passage when the facility formally opens.
The passage reflects Roosevelt’s belief that those who take action and face challenges deserve greater recognition than those who only criticise from the sidelines.
After introducing the recording, Burgum linked the message to Trump’s political career and thanked him for joining the dedication ceremony.
Federal Support Announced for Opening Exhibits
Trump also announced that the National Endowment for the Humanities would provide a federal grant of $750,000 to support the library’s opening exhibits during its first year.
He praised the project as a major cultural attraction and said he expected the museum, library and centre to become an important destination for visitors. Trump added that he had long valued the North Dakota region and believed the new institution would receive strong public interest.
The ceremony came as the United States prepares for the 250th anniversary of its independence, an occasion that has prompted renewed attention to the country’s presidents, national history and public institutions.
Presidential Fleet Modernisation Remains a Long-Term Process
Air Force One is not the name of one specific aircraft. It is the official air traffic control designation used whenever a US Air Force aircraft is carrying the President of the United States.
The current presidential aircraft fleet has served for more than three decades. Replacing or upgrading the planes has remained a lengthy process across several administrations because the aircraft must meet demanding communication, security and operational standards.
Trump’s remarks in North Dakota added a new aviation element to a ceremony primarily focused on Theodore Roosevelt’s legacy. The event combined the opening of a major presidential library, the transfer of a historic medal and a federal funding announcement for the institution’s first year.
