Gen Z – Archana Puran Singh Says Children Reflect the World Adults Have Built
Gen Z –Today’s younger generation is growing up in a rapidly changing environment, and according to actress Archana Puran Singh, their attitudes and habits should be understood in the context of the world created by adults.
Veteran actress Archana Puran Singh believes that society has become increasingly quick to judge today’s children, particularly members of Gen Z, without considering the circumstances in which they are growing up. She said that instead of placing blame on youngsters, people should recognise that every generation is shaped by its surroundings and the values passed on by adults. In her view, comparing today’s children with those of earlier decades is neither fair nor practical.
Society Plays a Major Role in Shaping Children
Speaking about changing social attitudes, Archana said children naturally absorb the environment around them. She pointed out that their behaviour is influenced by family, education, and the broader society they experience every day. According to her, if people want children to change, they must first examine the environment they have created for them rather than criticising the younger generation.
The actress stressed that children are not born with fixed habits or values. Instead, they learn from parents, teachers, relatives, and society at large. For that reason, she questioned why youngsters are often criticised for behaviour that is largely shaped by the adults responsible for raising them.
Comparing Generations Is Not Always Fair
Archana also reflected on how future generations should be viewed with understanding rather than unrealistic expectations. She said that if she becomes a grandparent one day, it would not be appropriate to compare her grandchildren with her own children because each generation grows up under completely different circumstances.
She explained that every era brings new experiences, opportunities, and challenges. As a result, children develop differently depending on the world they inherit. Judging them solely by the standards of previous generations overlooks the significant changes that have taken place in society over the years.
Technology Has Changed Childhood Completely
Highlighting the impact of technology, Archana noted that today’s children are growing up in a digital-first world unlike anything earlier generations experienced. Smartphones, cameras, computers, and internet-connected devices have become a normal part of childhood, making their daily lives vastly different from those of their parents.
She observed that young children now encounter technology from a very early age, not because they choose to, but because it is the reality into which they are born. According to her, adapting to this digital environment is simply a part of modern life, and it should not automatically be viewed as something negative.
At the same time, Archana made a distinction between ordinary childhood behaviour and genuine misconduct. She remarked that children have always displayed moments of mischief regardless of the era. However, the tools and technologies available today have transformed how they communicate, learn, and interact with the world.

Apart from sharing her views on parenting and society, Archana continues to remain an active and respected figure in the entertainment industry. With a career spanning more than 40 years, she has built a strong presence across television, films, and digital platforms.
She was most recently seen in the series “Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya,” where her portrayal of Urmila Devi received positive appreciation from viewers.
