Unveiled on July 30, 2026, the trailer debuted simultaneously in five Indian languages—Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam—highlighting the makers’ ambition to reach viewers across the country ahead of its worldwide theatrical release.
Trailer Revisits the Epic Through Grand Visual Storytelling
The newly launched trailer begins with Ravana’s rise as the ruler of Lanka before shifting focus to the early life of Lord Ram in Ayodhya. It gradually unfolds several defining moments from the ancient epic, including Ram’s decision to accept exile in keeping with Kaikeyi’s wishes, the encounter with Surpanakha, and the abduction of Sita.
Rather than revealing the complete narrative, the preview presents carefully selected sequences that capture the emotional depth and scale of the story. The visuals combine large-scale production design with extensive visual effects, indicating the film’s focus on delivering an immersive theatrical experience while staying rooted in the original tale.
Lead Cast Brings Iconic Characters to the Screen
Ranbir Kapoor steps into the role of Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi portrays Goddess Sita. Yash appears as Ravana, presenting the legendary antagonist with a commanding screen presence, and Ravie Dubey takes on the role of Lakshman.
The supporting cast also features Lara Dutta as Queen Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, and veteran actor Arvind Govil as King Dashrath. He also said that after years of working across the international film industry, he believed India’s most treasured stories deserved to be presented on a global platform using world-class filmmaking techniques. According to Tiwari, every aspect of the production—including performances, screenplay, music, production design, and visual effects—was developed with the intention of preserving the dignity of the source material. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Part 1 is produced by Prime Focus Studios and the Academy Award-winning VFX company DNEG in association with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release during Diwali 2026 and is expected to be among the biggest Indian film releases of the year.
