Accident – A devastating late-night road accident in Bihar’s Begusarai has claimed three lives and left several others injured, raising fresh concerns over safe driving during night travel.

A tragic head-on collision between two SUVs near the Angrezi Dhala railway crossing in Bihar’s Begusarai district late on Sunday night resulted in the deaths of three young men and injuries to nine others. The accident occurred within the Singhaul police station limits and has left the Pokharia locality grieving the sudden loss of its residents.
Victims Identified After Fatal Collision
The deceased have been identified as 26-year-old Rishabh Kumar, son of Lalan Paswan from Ward No. 37 of Pokharia, 24-year-old Sunny Kumar, son of Baiju Sharma, and 22-year-old Himanshu Kumar, son of Chikku Sah alias Rajan from Ward No. 36. Their deaths have deeply affected family members, friends, and neighbours, many of whom gathered at their homes after learning about the tragedy.
Friends Were Travelling for a Holy Visit
According to local residents and police officials, six friends from Pokharia had set out in a Scorpio SUV late at night with plans to visit Simaria for a ritual bath in the Ganga River. As their vehicle approached the Angrezi Dhala railway crossing, it collided head-on with another Scorpio that was travelling from the opposite direction.
The impact was extremely powerful, leaving both vehicles extensively damaged. Several passengers became trapped inside the wreckage, creating panic at the accident site.
Local Residents Led Rescue Operations
People living near the railway crossing rushed to the scene immediately after hearing the loud crash and cries for help. Working together, they managed to pull injured passengers out of the mangled vehicles before emergency services completed the rescue.
All nine injured individuals were shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Hospital sources said that eight of the injured were admitted to a private medical facility, where they continue to receive care. The condition of the remaining injured persons has not been officially detailed.
Families Left in Deep Mourning
The tragedy has brought immense sorrow to the Pokharia community. Rishabh Kumar was pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in his first year at SBS College and was the youngest among three brothers. Sunny Kumar was the third of four brothers in his family. The sudden deaths have left their households devastated.
Residents said several of the victims had been associated with a wedding procession, and what had started as a joyful occasion quickly turned into a heartbreaking incident that shocked the entire neighbourhood.
Police Begin Investigation Into Crash
Following the accident, Singhaul police reached the location, secured both damaged SUVs, and initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the collision. Officers are examining multiple factors, including the possibility of overspeeding, limited night-time visibility, and other conditions that may have contributed to the crash.
Authorities have stated that the exact cause will be established after completing the investigation and reviewing available evidence.
