Development – Bijnor Emerges as Key Growth Hub with Major Infrastructure Push

Development – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said Bijnor has undergone a significant transformation over the past several years, attributing the district’s progress to coordinated efforts by the Central and state governments along with local public representatives. He made the remarks while inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for development projects valued at more than Rs 1,003 crore.

Development Projects Highlighted During Public Event

Addressing a public gathering in Bijnor, the Chief Minister said the district has witnessed notable improvements in infrastructure, connectivity, investment opportunities, and public safety. According to him, Bijnor has moved beyond its earlier challenges and is now being recognised for its expanding road network, railway connectivity, healthcare facilities, and industrial growth. He stated that these achievements reflect sustained planning and implementation under the current administration.

Remarks on Bijnor’s Changing Image

During his speech, Adityanath contrasted the district’s present situation with earlier years, claiming that before 2017, senior political leaders rarely visited Bijnor. He remarked that previous administrations failed to unlock the district’s potential, whereas the current government has focused on accelerating development across the region. He added that Bijnor has now become an example of progress within Uttar Pradesh.

Agriculture, Industry and Local Enterprise

The Chief Minister praised Bijnor’s agricultural strength, particularly its sugarcane production, while noting that farmers are now receiving payments more efficiently than in previous years. He also highlighted the district’s growing industrial activity and appreciated the internationally recognised woodcraft industry of Nagina. According to him, the combined efforts of artisans, entrepreneurs, young professionals, and farmers have contributed to Bijnor’s distinct economic identity.

Light-Hearted Remark Draws Audience Response

While speaking about the district’s progress, Adityanath made a humorous reference to Bijnor’s leopard population. Taking a swipe at critics who, in his view, fail to acknowledge ongoing development, he jokingly suggested that the district’s leopards could be sent to those unable to notice the visible changes. The remark was met with laughter from those attending the event.

Local Representatives to Guide Development Priorities

Emphasising decentralised planning, the Chief Minister said development priorities are now determined by elected representatives at the local level rather than being decided solely in Lucknow. He explained that both the state and Central governments provide financial support, while local representatives identify the projects that best address the needs of their communities.

Connectivity and Education Receive Additional Focus

Adityanath announced that the proposed extension of the Ganga Expressway towards Haridwar is expected to improve regional connectivity and support economic activity. He also referred to the establishment of a nursing college in Bijnor, stating that it would expand higher education opportunities while creating employment prospects, particularly for women seeking careers in the healthcare sector.

Governance, Law and Order, and Welfare Delivery

Speaking on governance, the Chief Minister said the state has strengthened law and order since 2017 and recalled the 2016 killing of an NIA Deputy Superintendent of Police and his wife in Bijnor while drawing comparisons with the current situation. He stated that the district is steadily moving away from organised crime and creating a more secure environment for residents and investors.

Adityanath also highlighted the increasing use of digital technology in public administration. He said welfare benefits are being transferred directly to eligible beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), while digital monitoring systems enable authorities to oversee public distribution services and respond quickly to any irregularities.

Government Reaffirms Commitment to Continued Growth

The Chief Minister criticised the previous Samajwadi Party government, alleging that districts such as Bijnor did not receive adequate attention during its tenure. Reaffirming his administration’s development agenda, he assured the public that proposals for roads, bridges, flyovers, drinking water projects, educational institutions, sports facilities, tourism infrastructure, compressed biogas initiatives, industrial investments, and road widening works would continue to receive financial support. He concluded by saying the government remains committed to ensuring security, good governance, and sustained economic progress across the district.
