Road Accident – Delhi School Teacher Dies After Truck Hits Bike Taxi in Kanjhawala
Road Accident A 46-year-old school teacher lost her life in a tragic road accident in Delhi’s Kanjhawala area on Thursday morning after a truck allegedly struck the bike taxi on which she was travelling. Police said the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene immediately after the incident. A search operation has been launched to locate and arrest the accused.

Police Respond to Early Morning Accident
According to Delhi Police, officers were alerted after receiving a PCR call reporting a serious road accident on Kanjhawala Road. The police team reached the location near Cygnus Hospital, opposite Electronic Point, where they found a truck parked on the roadside. The woman was discovered trapped beneath the truck’s left rear wheel and was declared dead at the scene.
Officials said the truck was carrying construction material at the time of the accident. By the time police arrived, the driver had already escaped, leaving the vehicle behind.
Victim Was Travelling to School
During the investigation, the deceased was identified as Priyanka, a resident of Mahalaxmi Apartments in Rama Vihar. Police confirmed that she worked as a teacher at an MCD school located in K-Block, Mangolpuri.
Investigators said she had hired a bike taxi to travel to her workplace when the fatal collision occurred. The circumstances leading to the crash are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
Truck Seized as Driver Remains Missing
Police said the truck involved in the accident was loaded with sand and gravel used for construction work. After the collision, the driver allegedly fled without offering assistance or reporting the incident.
Authorities have seized the vehicle and contacted its registered owner to gather further information about the driver. Teams have been assigned to trace the suspect, and efforts to arrest him are continuing.
Body Sent for Legal Formalities
Following the accident, the victim’s body was shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. Officials completed the required medico-legal procedures before preserving the body in the hospital mortuary for further legal processes.
The police also informed the victim’s family and continued documentation related to the investigation.
Evidence Collected at the Scene
A crime team visited the accident site to examine the location and collect evidence. Investigators carried out digital documentation through the e-Sakshya system and completed the required entries under the Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD), which records details of road crashes for investigation and analysis.
These procedures form part of the standard protocol followed in serious road accident cases.
Case Registered Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
Delhi Police have registered a case under Sections 281, which deals with rash driving on a public road, and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Officers said the investigation remains active and all available evidence is being reviewed to establish the exact sequence of events.
Police added that they are coordinating with the truck owner and using available leads to identify the absconding driver. Further legal action will be taken after the accused is traced and taken into custody.
