Terrorism – Punjab Police Brings Back Two Alleged KZF Operatives From Malaysia

Terrorism – Railway Security Investigation and Counter-Terror Operations – Punjab Police has intensified efforts against cross-border terror networks after securing the deportation of two alleged Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) operatives from Malaysia, officials said. The action was carried out as part of an intelligence-driven operation coordinated with central agencies, focusing on individuals accused of involvement in attacks targeting important railway infrastructure across the state.

Accused Taken Into Custody Upon Arrival

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that the two suspects were detained by Punjab Police officers at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi immediately after their arrival from Malaysia. Following their arrest, they were transported to Punjab for further questioning and legal proceedings.

The individuals have been identified as Gurwinder Singh, a resident of Ambala, and Manjeet Singh from Patiala. According to investigators, both men were operating from Malaysia and were allegedly associated with a KZF-linked network that focused on disrupting railway operations in Punjab.

Probe Linked to Railway Blast Cases

The latest development stems from an ongoing investigation into a terror module allegedly connected to an improvised explosive device (IED) blast that occurred on the Sirhind railway track on January 23. Authorities are also examining its suspected role in a failed attempt to trigger another explosion near Shambhu in Patiala on April 27.

Earlier in the investigation, Punjab Police had arrested four individuals who were allegedly influenced by extremist ideologies and were believed to be connected to the same network.

Weapons and Explosives Recovered

During a series of searches linked to the case, investigators recovered a significant quantity of arms and explosive materials. The seized items included a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, an IED weighing more than two kilograms along with detonators and a battery, packets of RDX explosive material, hand grenades, and several sophisticated pistols accompanied by ammunition and magazines.

Police officials described the recovery as an important breakthrough in preventing potential attacks and gathering evidence against those involved in the conspiracy.

Malaysia-Based Network Under Scanner

According to DGP Yadav, investigators uncovered additional links pointing toward handlers and financial supporters operating from Malaysia. Authorities believe these overseas contacts played a role in sustaining activities connected to the banned terror outfit.

The two deported suspects are alleged to have facilitated the movement of funds through foreign accounts. Investigators claim the money was routed to operatives based in Punjab and used to support plans aimed at carrying out attacks designed to create unrest and disrupt public peace.

Court Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation

Officials confirmed that both accused were presented before a court in Patiala on Thursday. The court granted police custody, allowing investigators additional time to question them and examine their suspected role within the wider network.

Police sources said the investigation remains active, with efforts focused on identifying additional associates, financial channels, and operational links connected to the alleged conspiracy.

New Cell Created to Track Overseas Fugitives

In a separate development, Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence wing has established the Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell (OFTEC). The specialized unit will function under the leadership of Inspector General of Police (Counter Intelligence) Ashish Choudhary.

The newly formed cell has been tasked with tracing wanted criminals and terror suspects operating from foreign countries and accelerating legal processes related to their extradition. Officials believe the initiative will strengthen Punjab’s ability to pursue offenders beyond national borders and ensure they face legal action in India.
