PetrolPumpSafety – Borivali Petrol Pump Worker Dragged by Car After Smoking Objection

PetrolPumpSafety – A late-night dispute at a petrol station in Mumbai’s Borivali area took a dangerous turn when a fuel station employee was allegedly dragged by a moving car after objecting to a man smoking on the premises. Police have arrested the accused and registered a case under serious provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including attempted murder.

Borivali petrol pump worker dragged by car

The incident has raised concerns about safety at fuel stations, where even minor violations can pose significant risks to workers and customers.

Dispute Began Over Former Employee’s Termination

According to investigators, the incident took place around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday at an HP petrol pump located in the Magathane area of Borivali. The victim, Pramod Baburao Sukale, who lives in Mira Road, is employed as a cashier at the fuel station.

Police said the accused, identified as Brijlesh Shambhavan Dubey, arrived at the petrol pump to confront supervisor Hemant Sawant. Authorities believe Dubey was upset over the dismissal of his brother, Sandeep Dubey, who had previously worked at the same fuel station.

What initially appeared to be a verbal confrontation soon escalated into a serious law-and-order situation.

Employee Intervened Over Safety Violation

During the argument, Dubey was allegedly smoking a cigarette inside the petrol pump premises. Concerned about the potential danger, Sukale stepped in and requested him to stop smoking immediately.

Fuel stations are considered high-risk environments where smoking is strictly prohibited because of the possibility of fire or explosion. Police said Sukale warned the man about the hazards associated with smoking near fuel dispensing units.

However, instead of complying with the request, the accused allegedly became aggressive following the intervention.

Victim Allegedly Dragged by Moving Vehicle

Investigators stated that Dubey allegedly attempted to drive his vehicle toward Sukale during the confrontation. In an effort to avoid being hit, the employee reportedly held onto the bonnet of the car.

Police allege that the accused then accelerated the vehicle and drove toward the Western Express Highway without stopping. As the vehicle gained speed, Sukale was dragged along for a considerable distance.

The situation created panic in the area and exposed the victim to severe risk of injury.

Collision With Other Vehicles During Escape

Authorities further revealed that while driving recklessly, the accused allegedly collided with multiple vehicles on the road. Witnesses reported that the vehicle struck at least two or three other automobiles before the victim eventually lost his grip and fell.

Sukale suffered injuries in the incident and was later taken for medical treatment at a nearby hospital. His condition has not been reported as life-threatening.

The sequence of events prompted an immediate police response and a detailed investigation into the matter.

Police Register Attempted Murder Case

Based on the complaint filed by the injured employee, the Kasturba Marg Police registered a case against Brijlesh Dubey. Investigators charged him under provisions related to attempted murder and other applicable sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The accused was produced before a local court on Sunday. The court subsequently remanded him to police custody to facilitate further questioning and investigation.

A police officer associated with the case stated that the accused allegedly continued driving despite being aware that his actions could cause serious or even fatal injuries to the victim. Officials confirmed that further inquiries are ongoing to establish all circumstances surrounding the incident.
