ReliefFund – Delhi Announces Compensation After Deadly Malviya Nagar Fire

ReliefFund –   The Delhi government has announced financial assistance for families affected by the devastating fire that struck a guest accommodation facility in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi. The decision was made following a review of the situation by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who visited injured survivors receiving treatment at a hospital in the capital.

Government Extends Financial Support

According to the official announcement made on Thursday, the families of those who lost their lives in the incident will receive an ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh each. In addition, victims who sustained serious injuries in the fire will be provided financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to help cover recovery-related needs and other expenses.

The compensation package comes as authorities continue efforts to support affected families and ensure proper medical care for those injured in the tragedy.

Chief Minister Visits Injured Survivors

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited Max Hospital in Saket, where several victims are currently undergoing treatment. During the visit, she met patients and their relatives, assessed the medical arrangements in place, and instructed officials to ensure that all necessary support is provided without delay.

Officials said the chief minister closely reviewed the treatment facilities and emphasized that the government would remain actively involved in helping victims through their recovery process.

Fire Claims Lives, Leaves Many Injured

The fire broke out at a bed-and-breakfast establishment in Malviya Nagar on Wednesday morning. The incident resulted in the deaths of 21 people and left 25 others injured. Among those affected were several foreign nationals who were staying at the property at the time of the fire.

Emergency teams responded to the scene and transported injured individuals to nearby hospitals for immediate treatment. Authorities have continued to monitor the condition of those receiving medical care.

Patients Showing Signs of Improvement

Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Satish Upadhyay, who accompanied the chief minister during her hospital visit, said the condition of many patients had improved over the past day.

He stated that the government’s immediate focus remains ensuring the best possible treatment for all injured individuals. According to him, medical teams are working continuously, and several patients have shown encouraging progress since being admitted.

Ongoing Treatment at Saket Hospital

Upadhyay said that 17 injured victims are currently receiving treatment at Max Hospital in Saket. Among them, seven patients remain on ventilator support. Hospital authorities are providing continuous medical attention, and all necessary treatment measures are being carried out under expert supervision.

Government officials are maintaining close coordination with hospital management to ensure that patients receive uninterrupted care.

Arrangements for Medical Expenses and Final Rites

In a statement shared by the Chief Minister’s Office, officials confirmed that the government would work with hospital authorities to facilitate medical expenses and provide every possible assistance required for treatment.

The statement also noted that arrangements are being made to transport the mortal remains of the deceased to their respective hometowns, helping families complete final rites without additional logistical burdens.

Authorities have assured that all affected families will receive the announced support measures while investigations and relief efforts continue following one of the capital’s deadliest fire incidents in recent years.
