Former Delhi Fire Services Director Atul Garg described the incident as deeply tragic and pointed to long-standing infrastructure concerns in the locality. He noted that narrow lanes, encroachments, and the absence of accessible water sources created major obstacles for firefighting teams.
Garg also highlighted that many buildings in the area rely on a single staircase, making evacuation difficult during emergencies. Dense smoke reportedly filled the structure within a short period, leaving many occupants with little time to escape. He further suggested that inadequate safety measures may have contributed to the high death toll.

Malviya Nagar legislator Satish Upadhyay said that 47 guests were staying at the property when the fire broke out. He confirmed that several injured individuals remain in critical condition, with some receiving advanced medical support.
Upadhyay praised police personnel who entered the burning building to rescue trapped occupants despite the risks involved. He also assured that a detailed inquiry would identify those responsible for violating regulations. According to him, any hotels, guest houses, or bed-and-breakfast establishments found ignoring safety requirements could face immediate closure and legal action.
