GovernmentHoliday – Karnataka Announces Half-Day Closure Ahead of Chief Minister’s Oath Ceremony
GovernmentHoliday – The Karnataka government has declared a half-day holiday on June 3 for employees working in key government establishments around the state legislature complex as preparations intensify for the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister-designate DK Shivakumar. The decision applies to officials and staff stationed at Vidhana Soudha, Vikasa Soudha, and the Multi-Storeyed Building in Bengaluru.

Holiday Declared to Support Event Arrangements
According to an official notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), the oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to take place at 4:05 PM on June 3 within the Karnataka Legislature premises. The event is expected to draw a substantial gathering, including political leaders, elected representatives, invited guests, senior officials, and members of the public.
Authorities stated that the temporary closure of offices in the area is intended to assist with the extensive logistical arrangements required for the ceremony. Security deployment, traffic regulation, and crowd management measures are expected to be implemented on a large scale throughout the day.
Offices Near Legislature Complex to Remain Closed
With a significant turnout anticipated, officials have warned of increased vehicle movement and congestion around the Vidhana Soudha precincts. To reduce disruptions and ensure smooth execution of the event, government offices located close to the legislature complex will remain closed during the afternoon session on June 3.
The order has been issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms on behalf of the Governor of Karnataka. Administrative departments have been instructed to make necessary arrangements in line with the notification.
Cabinet Formation Discussions Continue in Delhi
While preparations for the swearing-in ceremony are underway in Bengaluru, political consultations have continued in New Delhi. DK Shivakumar visited the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for discussions related to the formation of the new state cabinet and other important organizational matters.
The meeting comes at a crucial stage as the party leadership works toward finalizing the composition of the government. Discussions are believed to include the allocation of ministerial portfolios, decisions regarding the Deputy Chief Minister’s position, and changes within the party’s state organizational structure.
Senior Leaders Participate in Key Consultations
Several senior Congress leaders from Karnataka have also been holding meetings with the party’s central leadership in the national capital. Among those involved in the consultations were Karnataka’s caretaker Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal, and other prominent party figures.
The series of meetings is viewed as an important step in shaping the new administration and determining the leadership team that will guide the state government in the coming years.
Swearing-In Ceremony Scheduled in Bengaluru
The oath-taking ceremony of DK Shivakumar is set to be held at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru on June 3 at around 4 PM. Preparations for the event have entered the final stage, with government agencies coordinating security and public arrangements.
Earlier, Siddaramaiah also met senior party leaders in Delhi as discussions over cabinet appointments continued. Karnataka Congress MLA Priyank Kharge was among those who met Mallikarjun Kharge amid ongoing speculation regarding possible responsibilities in the new government.
Awaiting Final Cabinet Announcement
Political observers and party workers are now awaiting the outcome of the high-level discussions taking place in Delhi. The final list of ministers and key appointments is expected to be announced after consultations conclude.
The decisions taken in the coming days will play a significant role in defining the structure and priorities of the new Karnataka government as it prepares to begin its term under the incoming leadership.
