Crime Update – Delhi Teen Arrested After Shooting Incident at Amar Colony Eatery
Crime Update – A teenage boy was taken into custody by Delhi Police after a shooting incident in the Amar Colony area left a 17-year-old student critically injured earlier this week.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening at a restaurant in southeast Delhi’s Amar Colony locality. According to police officials, a PCR call reporting gunfire was received around 7:54 pm. When officers arrived at the scene, the injured student had already been rushed to Moolchand Hospital by people present at the restaurant.
Doctors reportedly placed the victim on ventilator support after he suffered a serious head injury. He was later transferred to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for advanced treatment. Police officials said the teenager remains in critical but stable condition.
Argument at Restaurant Led to Violence
Investigators revealed that the injured student had visited the eatery along with a group of friends, including a girl. During their visit, three boys arrived at the restaurant in a car and allegedly behaved in a manner that triggered tension between the two groups.
According to preliminary findings, the victim objected after the newcomers allegedly stared repeatedly at the girl accompanying his group. This reportedly led to a heated verbal exchange inside the restaurant premises.
Some accounts gathered during the investigation also suggest that the confrontation may have begun after one of the accused accidentally brushed against the victim’s chair while passing through the seating area. The disagreement soon escalated into an argument between the teenagers.
Suspects Returned Minutes Later
Police said the dispute initially appeared to have ended after both groups stopped arguing. However, investigators believe the accused and his companions returned to the location within a few minutes.
During the second confrontation, one of the boys allegedly went back to the vehicle, retrieved a pistol, and fired at the student. The bullet reportedly struck the victim in the head before the suspects fled the area in the car.
The sudden attack caused panic among customers and nearby residents. Witnesses informed the police immediately after the shooting, leading to a rapid response from local authorities.
CCTV Footage Helped Police Investigation
Following the incident, police registered a criminal case and launched a detailed investigation. Teams examined CCTV footage from nearby shops, roads, and commercial establishments in an effort to trace the suspects involved in the firing.
During the investigation, officers received information regarding the possible location of one of the accused. Acting on the lead, a police team conducted a raid at a house in Shyam Nagar near Okhla Estate at around 4 am on Wednesday.
Officials confirmed that a 16-year-old boy was apprehended during the operation. As per police sources, the teenager allegedly admitted during questioning that he had been involved in the argument at the restaurant before the shooting occurred.
Police Continue Probe Into Incident
Authorities are now working to identify and trace the other individuals who were reportedly present during the incident. Investigators are also examining how the accused gained access to the firearm used in the attack.
Police officials stated that further legal action is being taken in accordance with juvenile justice procedures. Statements of eyewitnesses and people present at the restaurant are also being recorded as part of the ongoing inquiry.
The case has once again raised concerns over rising incidents involving firearms and violent disputes among teenagers in the national capital. Security agencies are continuing their efforts to determine the complete sequence of events that led to the shooting.
