TaiwanStrait – Taiwan’s defense authorities reported renewed military movements by China near the island on Thursday, marking another day of heightened activity in the sensitive Taiwan Strait region.
Taiwanese Defence Ministry Reports Aircraft and Naval Presence
According to Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence, nine Chinese military aircraft and six naval vessels were detected operating near Taiwan until 6 a.m. local time. Officials stated that all nine aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait before entering Taiwan’s central and southwestern Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ).
Taiwanese armed forces said they closely monitored the movements and responded using standard surveillance and defence measures. The ministry regularly releases updates on Chinese military operations around the island, reflecting growing concerns over regional stability.

The latest military movements follow a series of similar incidents reported over recent days. On Wednesday, Taiwan identified ten Chinese aircraft and seven naval vessels operating near its surrounding waters. A day earlier, authorities reported a larger presence involving 29 aircraft, seven naval ships, and one official Chinese vessel in nearby areas.

The developments also come shortly after remarks made by US President Donald Trump regarding Taiwan. Speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews while travelling to Connecticut on May 21, Trump said the United States would continue engaging with all parties concerning the Taiwan issue.
During the media interaction, Trump referred to recent discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping and stated that Washington believed the situation was being managed carefully. His comments once again highlighted the international importance of the Taiwan Strait dispute and the role of major global powers in the region.
